@@ddot99 He is not a "gamer". He just got very lucky, regardless of what profits he generated during the past year. That's solely result orientated and you want to avoid that in poker. Every hand he's involved in, he seems lost and he obviously has no idea what's going on. There is no strategy involved in his play and he gets the simplest terminology wrong. The Marle vs Matt hand exemplifies why we shouldn't assume that our opponents are competent and think like we do. Believing that Matt wouldn't take that line with anything but KQ+ completely leveled her into calling with Ace high

the bet with QQ is fine and I think distribution demands a fold with A5o. this is the advantage of taking a polarized line with a non-polar hand, people will level themselves into calling thinking you won't bet a hand like Q10 or JJ when that is not the case.

@mjriemen 3 жыл бұрын
I very much believed she called because the amount was rather small in relation to the game. Johnny is 4 bet bluffing for over $400, so a $150 river bet is quite small. Its a silly reason to call, but I’m sure she would have folded to larger sizing.

Would be interesting to see a mix of fun players as a theme for a future lineup. In the standard 1/3 or 2/5 game it’s a mix of both and hearing the thoughts of both and how the results vary based on how someone’s skill level is perceived. I will volunteer as a recreational to bring action to your game.

There are various skill levels here though. Matt and Landon are the solid pros, Johnnie and Trevor are the decent regs, and Marle and Rampage are the fish.
@mjriemen
@mjriemen 3 жыл бұрын
@@Ohrami All of them make a decent living playing Poker, and one of the fish has a WSOP bracelet. About .01% of the Poker playing population makes enough money from Poker to just survive on. Never mind make a nice living. Everyone here is in that .01%. They may have slightly different skill levels, but no one is going to punt off an entire stack without at least a reasonable explanation. Marle is no fish she plays Wynn $2/5 here in Vegas a lot. Its a tough game, she is a constant winner. Rampage? Eh maybe, maybe not, its a little early to say if its luck or not, but so far hes making a lot of money. Fish are big losers, not big winners. Its also too early to say about Landon, hasnt been playing that long either. Yeah he knows a lot of theory, but its yet to be determined how he handles himself when things aren’t going well for him. So far everything as far as I know has been somewhat easy for him. Lets see how hes doing after going on a big downswing. No one in this lineup is a recreational player. I think a couple in the lineup would make it way more interesting and helpful as a learning tool.

Marle with KK pre about to go HU ip: "I think my hand's just a little bit too vulnerable and needs protection" I get that the point of this is to explore the headspace of different players at different times, and of course our own headspaces are not always clear, but I don't find myself being a big fan of her thought process, including in other hands. For this hand in particular I'm flatting IP to let villain continue with worse otf. Jamming here folds out all of the iso bluffs and underpairs you want to keep barrelling you.

Her point has quite a bit of validity because the vast majority of 4b bluff's in Johnnie's range are Ax hands which have fine equity against KK. It's certainly fine to flat KK some of the time here but AA will be the main slowplay flat. The other trouble with flatting KK is we end up missing out on coolering hands like JJ, QQ and AK when we get uncooperative board textures.

Armchair Quarterback time... Matt, AQ is a terrible call against a 4 bet. You said yourself that Landon is going to play like a computer. So, what is his 4 betting range? AK - you have 3 outs. AA - Drawing practically dead. KK - you have 3 outs. QQ - you have 3 outs and one card in the deck that could stack you. JJ and TT - you have 6 outs. You are way behind almost ALL the time, and in almost every case you won't get value if you hit your hand. Sorry, dude, you can try to rationalize it all you want, it's a very bad call. I hate armchair QBs, and I almost never do it... but you are not gong to find many players that will agree with you here.
