Gray Cowl of Nocturnal is sincerely one of the worst quest mods I've ever played in my 11+ years of modding Bethesda games. Much like Frontier once the initial elation and giddiness wears off you've got a mod as pleasant as being force-fed broken glass. Story (which was worse than Fanfic tier) aside you're on a quest as a thief to obtain a thief artifact, that involves virtually no stealing outside of the first gimmick. Beautiful. Thuggysmurf... Holy Jumping Jesus on a Pogostick. If Four Decent Friends ever cover HIS mods the video will be titled "Four Decent Friends form a suicide pact while playing ". One of the most recent Fallout 4 mods with Diamond City was so awful I still sincerely believe it was worse than what I'd experienced in The Frontier from my times playing it. And that was just from watching the unbearably cringe-worthy, unfunny, unsubtle abhorrent "political satire" or ''''''humor''''''' if you can call it that unfold. The Dark Brotherhood Quest mod, I forget the name... the author recently did a pretty big revamp of it and acknowledged openly the problems with the mod so I'm more lenient with it; but... it wasn't good either. It had some great ideas and scenes and the voice of the Night Mother did the role extraordinarily well, but... other things Frontier'd the Hell out of it.

Honestly, this. I also want to branch out and try making more videos on different kinds of games but I personally have a hard time of finding what games to pick up for that. Aside from the stuff I like, it's hard to find something worthwhile and enjoyable to upload. But probably the worst thing is the fact that a trendy meme video can cap far more views than something else that I put great effort into. It's a problem with KZbin in general, where most of the stuff that's trending is either a meme video with low to moderate effort put in it or some cringe stuff like ASMRs or challenges... Basically, quantity over quality. There are still people that appreciate my videos regardless, but I don't know if building my own reputation on some dumb funny memes is anything great.

Oh and you forgot about two other companions in the vault (Two robots, ALPHA and B3RK), there is a third "secret companion" that you could find after finding 3 secret collectibles in the world (one of which is in the vault during the Enclave ambush). If you do not want to reload a save in the vault (before the Enclave ambush) you could just spawn them (the first 2) in and force follow and force add their perks (all of this info is on the New California wiki). Though if you don't want to go through the trouble of getting (what is essentially) a cool reskin of a super mutant with a beefed up energy rifle and a neat reskin of Rex, then that's understandable. They're the best companions because they don't have any dialogue (ALPHA speaks in a mute version of Binary and B3RK rarely says anything).

my biggest gripe with the mod is the DETH radio station. I don't think it's too terribly lore unfriendly I mean genres other than swing, big band music and country would exist within the timeframe I bet, but they keep calling the station death metal when all the songs I heard on it, whenever the hosts finally shut up, were much closer to hardcore punk.

Jamie is in this state of development hell where they are trying to change the character thus changed the look. The original Jamie wore the Vault Ball Gear because she was another Vault Ball player. They are trying to showcase the prosthetic arm, which is important for the new character and I guess that's the easiest way to do it.

The Frontier has a nod to New California. In Hangar B I think, in Camp Pheonix, with Wild Wasteland, you can find General Silverman in a dumpster.
