In the summer time, we put out grape jelly for the birds. There are 4 different kinds of birds that eat it here. The Baltimore Orioles, Orchard Orioles, House Finches, and Cardinals. We enjoy watching them all. We've had as many as 12 Orioles in the rose of sharon bush above the feeders.

I made a change from grape jelly to orange marmalade. The Orioles sem to like it better. They eat more when they visit the feeder and frequent the feeder more often. The Norther Cardinals and Gray Catbirds also like it. I also put out some blueberries for the Gray Catbirds. The Catbirds eat some marmalade and then fly away with a blueberry. Must be a pretty sight haveing 12 Orioles at one time. I have two pairs of Orioles that visit my feeder.

Thanks a bunch for the information. I've never tried orange marmalade. I might give it a try once they are finished nesting around here. We are still getting regular visitors in the mornings and evenings, but not nearly as many as earlier in the spring. It's pretty amazing when large groups of them come in for a visit. They pile up in the nearby trees and on other things they can perch on. Then they start making noise if they have to wait too long. I think there are catbirds around our area, but we never seen them at the feeders. Thanks again!
