I will repeat it again... There Will be Blood is a certified classic. Daniel Day Lewis as Daniel Plainview is nothing short of mesmerising. A captivating performance, arguably the greatest! Edit: Also, I got to admit... There Will be Blood is still I think PTA's best film, but my favorite got to be Boogie Nightz. A film I can re-watch countless times, you can see a lot of inspiration PTA took from Scorsese and Tarantino and added his own unique spin. Boogie Nightz is a special kind of movie, a movie you can watch in any mood and still come out satisfied (Goodfellas is the other one that came to my mind as well which is directed by Scorsese).

@@Shionshowa I don't like to be the sort who assumes things about anonymous strangers on the internet (even though I do that a lot), but I've noticed that for the most part people who like Holy Motors tend to be hipsters who think anything vaguely resembling modern, garden-variety European Art-house pretentions is 'so deep, so brilliant!' - or guys in their late teens or early twenties who haven't actually watched any movies, or at least not any that are actually worth anything substantial (tho of course they think they have), so they tend to think that any content that peacocks itself as "different" automatically makes for (gasp!) such "refined culture"; and that of course pedantically, shallowly "different" equates to superior 'filmmaking' as well! "Different" is empty. Different does not mean good, it does not mean quality. Content is no substitute for craft. Quit propagating cultural brainrot.

@@nl3064 I grew up with that film. One of the earliest memory of seeing it when I was 9 ( when it was came out ) and Leos Caracas the director is brilliant no doubt. There nothing pretentious about it because it’s a movie people like. Quit whining ! Go and strap up ur jocks and stick to sht like Star Wars.

In retrospect, TWBB is maybe seen as the slightly "better" choice (tho both movies are two of the most iconic of the 00's), but kind of a stuffy choice that's not all that rewatchable for me. No Country clearly had the broader appeal and I find to be the much more entertaining and rewatchable movie.
