Hey Danya love your content. Was wondering if the 4 knights scotch is at all good for black? Or could you try to play into it as the black pieces and show us some counter options to it from white? I've seen the 4 knights scotch a lot this Speedrun but only from the white pieces. Given how easy of an opening it is to reach could you possibly cover it from the black side? Awesome video as always! Keep up the great work!
@trallegas65892 жыл бұрын
This is a pretty good idea,the 4 knights if played well can give black a really good position to the point that white probably has a harder game imo, it'd be great if he does a video on it but if he doesn't end up making one you can check out the master databases in the opening and if you follow the most commonly played moves you'll see more or less how both colors should go about the position

Hey Daniel. Would youn mind teaching us some tips for better calculating long captures? I am 1500 and still struggle a bit to calculate long captures, such as whats left at the end and whether it is good or not. I know its just a calculation but in even rapid, its rough taking time that could end up losing you the game on the clock if I spend a while on 2 calculations with a full minute or 2 gone just on a couple variations.
@gustavoschrf2 жыл бұрын
do a lot of puzzles
@impishlyit97802 жыл бұрын
I am by no means an expert, but I recommend simply taking the time to do it every time. It can be frustrating, but the practice you get doing it will make you faster. Puzzles/tactics training can be useful, but is not always helpful with the kind of positions you see in games and detecting them quickly. Just keep going and don't give up! If you ever feel like you simply don't have time to think, try even longer time controls. 30 minutes might feel like a seldom-used time control, but it's very useful to learn chess in a deeper way and actually calculate everything.
@trallegas65892 жыл бұрын
Sadly the only way to do this is by practicing a lot aka puzzles

That's an issue of positional vs tactical chess usually. Books are probably the best for learning that. I'm sure Daniel has a video for book recommendations somewhere.

Four Knights Scotch is all I play, and not only does almost everybody in my rating range go for the tempo on the queen by pushing c5, but I think maybe 1 in 10 opponents plays d6 which stops the pawn from advancing on the knight, and then it's like a 20% chance they end up losing the knight.
