Nice summary. What if Q + L + M was not written source but a person who also wrote a few notes and dictated or recounted the rest? I am thinking of John + Polycarp Later they would write their own version, though out and resumed in a different manner, including the right chronology.

I am just wondering, why Matthew (as one of the 12 disciples) would need Mark or ‘Q’ as a source. He had first hand experience with Jesus. Maybe, someone can help me out!?

Gospel of Matthew is now widely believed to be authored by someone else.

​@@davidireland1766 No, it's not widely believed to be by someone else, just some scholars say that they cannot confirm whether or not Matthew wrote it, but they agree that it was written by a Jew in the first century who knew Koine Greek.... Which St Matthew the Evangelist fits perfectly, being a tax collector.

this is exactly the main problem with the theory of the Q source. My idea is that Mark's work was so eloquent and of such litterary skill that Matthew, being a less versed in storytelling, used Mark's work as a reference.

The nature of discussing and learning about the gospels highlights how different John is from the first three. It is the only one deeply theological, it is doing radically different things than the first three. Yada yada.
