There's a reason it is called the golden years of television.

Don't get too sentimental....the 'golden years' also had plenty of lightweight nonsense back then just like today. Definitely MORE trash today, but trash has always been around in ample supply...be it television or Hollywood's 'golden years.'

@@waldolydecker8118 true. But I have to tell you as a kid back that I really enjoyed television. And for me it just kept getting better. Then around 1965 it started to become fads. You had a Martian in the suburbs you had a witch in the suburbs you had a genie in the suburbs you had a female robot in the suburbs. One point there was a pilot show that was actually aired on CBS and it was a proposed series about an invisible baby. The last really well written well produced good shows were the Andy Griffith show the Dick Van Dyke show the variety shows of that era of the late 50s early 60s. and why television for shook the dramas as they did is beyond me. Those programs were great. And of course a number of them went on to become movies. You know theatrical films. And I understand why because they were so well done well written, although I always feel that the television version, very often was better than the film version except for Marty.

Anyone notice "Floyd" from Andy Griffith Show? "Pink Floyd" is a great tee-shirt! I love these shows and echo all compliments about Dick Powell, such a versatile guy!

I believe he appeared a few times on Dick's radio show, "RICHARD DIAMOND, PRIVATE DETECTIVE". Powell knew a GOOD character actor when he appeared with them.

They used to hawk it in the ads rear of "Rolling Stone", a 'HOT PINK' tee-shirt with Howard McNear's (you know, Floyd the Barber)picture on the front. I was an idiot and the ad bit the dust!

This was a great show; well produced drama. I vaguely remember this show as a boy. This episode has a touch of Twilight Zone-Kafka. Dick Powell really was in tune to drama....

2:30 Dick is called “son.” He was a hard 50 years old! The actor playing his father isn’t that much older than him. In a number of these shows the stars, who owned the series, played parts that were considerably younger than they really were. They were paired up with young suitors and were referred to as being young. It’s kind of embarrassing. Powell died in 1962 not very many years after this show.
