In the video, I forgot to address the fact that we crossed through 4 states in one day (or one flight for the other guys who didn't have to land), but it was a huge highlight of day 2. To really see the states/terrain we crossed over, check out Caleb Johnson's video of all of our flight paths over Google Earth (link at bottom of this comment). Thank you again Brad Roper at Southern Utah Paramotor for letting us use your LZ and for your hospitality. Also, thank you to everyone else who surprised us and came out to chat, help us out, make us breakfast, wake up at the butt crack of dawn to see us launch, etc! We Appreciate it! Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more. It only gets more interesting! kzbin.info/www/bejne/noKWY6SjZrFmeZI

why you cant fly over the grand canyons ? helicopters? (i'm not from us )
@payton41488 ай бұрын
The grandcanyon has multiple no fly zones with corridors for sightseeing aircraft in certain areas as to limit the amount of disturbance to visitors on the ground. So the only areas you can fly are heavily congested with relatively fast moving aircraft to a paramotor. Best to just avoid it.

Do you use adsb-out? I almost flew into a paramotor a few years ago that was flying in a pretty dangerous area between two busy airports. No radio, no adsb-out. Basically 2,000 agl in the departure path if you were departing to the South.
@MarkHuneycutt8 ай бұрын
I'm maybe one of the less than 20 paramotor pilots to have it. You can blame the FAA for thinking we (ultralights and specifically paramotors) don't need it and making the process to obtain it very difficult and expensive. 6-8 month wait times, thousands of dollars, and in the end when you register, you have to select from the classes - airplane rotorcraft, glider, weight shift control, powered-parachute, etc - none of which we fall into, to include any class in "etc". Therefore, you're potentially registering "illegally" if they let you pick one of those classes (powered-parachute is the closest resemblance but very different in terms of license, rules, and size), according to one FSDO I spoke with out of many. Not to mention, the majority of FSDOs I spoke with have to call you back after they do their research on what a paramotor even is after spewing off rules from the wrong CFRs. You'd think the FAA would see the exponential growth of paramotors and want to keep the air safe but here we are. This is also an unlicensed sport. I hate to say it but those dudes flying near your airspace may have never read a CFR or sectional in their life and may fly straight into class B airspace. It's a problem and because of that, we will likely be regulated one day.

Have you ever herd or seen a new person doing great only to find their fear of heights kick in, once they got up-up and away, on their 3rd or 4th flight? Do the straps and seat cancel that out?

@chuckaeronut8 ай бұрын
Here's a screenshot of the terrain elevation underneath us as compared with our altitude for the duration of this flight! Please forgive the lack of any scales, as this was just a visualization for my little project to sanitize my overlapping GPS data. The horizontal axis is time, and the vertical axis is feet above sea level, ranging from 0 at the bottom to 13,000 at the top of the image. My data shows altitudes from a thousand to 9,400 feet or so, averaging what looks like a few thousand feet above ground level, but in reality anywhere from 0 to around 6,000 feet above. i.imgur.com/qPO3qo0.png
