I started the Paulas Choice 1% retinol at the start of summer and love it. I haven’t experienced any side effects since I followed your advice to buffer it when starting and always use SPF. It’s a fantastic product that I plan to stick with. Thank you Nadine!

Nadine, one day could you kindly make a video on what to use/ do if you have year round sun exposure? I live in Miami and even with all the SPF I slather on I know myself and many other women have endless sun damage but are afraid to use retinol since our skin no down time except for super rainy June. I know that’s a tall order but it would be greatly appreciated by all of us in hot climates ❤️

I'm in Texas. I would love this too. Great topic idea. Unfortunately I just have become a bit of a vampire. I use the paula's choice 1 Percent clinical retinol nearly every night and the elta md 30plus spf every day. I just stay inside, or in shade and sometimes wear a hat. The retinol works wooooonders but it is a bit of a lifestyle bummer. I hope Nadine will give us some tips!! Great suggestion

My Curology formulation has Tretinoin and Tranexamic acid (plus niaminicide). I haven't really heard much about tranexamic acid, but it did absolute wonders to sun spots I had on my face. They have completely disappeared! I am very pleased with it so far! Great video as usual. Your guidance is always spot on!

Even w/out going out much, crazy we are still needing to repair our summer skin. Love skin&labs 1. 😍Barrierderm intensive cream (Saving my super sensitive skin.) 2. Glacial Water Soothing Gel (texture is not my favorite, super watery.😑) The other product I'm seeing results with is TOSOWOONG - Tamanu 100% Botanic Oil (which smells, no joke but I don't care b/c it WORKS!). Enjoyed hearing your recommendations... I'll be going back to my retinol once my face is ready. Cheers!

Thanks Nadine! I don't spend time in the sun but I've noticed a little bit of pigmentation above my left eye brow, my hair parts to the right! I'm going to order the tranexamic acid because my skin doesn't like vit C, I break out for some reason! Maybe I just haven't found the one, I might give the Ole one a go or see if superdrug do one rather than spending a fortune. This coming from the woman who spends about £150 every six months or so on Tropic skincare! Thanks again lovely lady xxx Edit superdrug do a vit C for a fiver so I'll see how that goes xx

I wish ole didn't have to do so much citrus as their brand cohesive signature. It smells absolutely gorge but is sensitizing and causes inflammatory swelling to my upper cheekbone area. I know I'm just doing more longterm damage than I'm treating using most of their products.

I find it so hard to know what to use on my skin, I have so many skin complaints. I’m fed up of trying new things, I just don’t have the cash. I wish I could just be told a routine that works with products that work. Love your videos, I am trying to lean what to use when

Lucy McGuren I have sensitive/reactive skin. Here is my minimalistic routine. Morning: cleanse with gentle cleanser, I use Trader Joe’s, Norish Cleanser which is very gentle, while skin is damp apply Paula’s Choice Ultra Light Antioxidant serum (one pump for face, one pump for neck/chest). Wait about a minute apply sunscreen I use the CVS dupe for CeraVe AM (which doesn’t pill on me like the original - spf 30). Wait 15-20min apply foundation if you are using it. Evening, I use Trader Joe’s Jojoba Oil to break up mascara, cleanse again with TJ’s Norish, CeraVe PM to face neck and chest. Wait 15 to 20 min apply Vit A (I use Tretinoin but retinol will do). Done

Hi Nadine, my super sensitive/rosacea/eczema prone skin won't tolerate l ascorbic acid or AHA's (the low ph required for these is far too aggressive on my skin). I'm currently using the GOW C Deep serum/oil (with the new "it"ingredient THD ascorbate which is in the very pricy Truth treatment vitamin c, but a lot cheaper) and GOW's azelaic acid. I haven't been using the vitamin c product very long (no irritation), but i have had a noticible lightening of freckles with the azelaic acid. Apart from all the anti infalmmatory benefits it does really help with hyperpigmentation. I do use niacinamide, licorice and tretinoin as well, but really noticed a difference to my pigment when I introduced the Azelaic Acid. I don't have melasma or really bad patches of pigmentation, but I do have the freckles across my nose and cheeks I've had since childhood. I'm the classic white skin, strawberry blond with a smattering of freckles. The tiny freckles I had in childhood more resemble very small blobs nowadays as they have joined together in places. They have lightened considerably over the last six months with daily sunscreen (spf50), tretinoin and azelaic acid. I continued my tretinoin throughout the Summer, but I did scale it back from 5 nights a week to every second day. I have less pigment now than I did before Summer, so that's a win. i may try the tranexamic acid as it is an interesting ingredient. I saw the Superdrug product today in store, but will wait until I've fully trialled the new vitamin c product first. Best wishes.

Nadine can you recommend a retinol thats a bit more affordable than the Paula's choice but still 1%.I've so far used the grandactive retinoid from the ordinary and I'm currently using the inkey list and nearly finished. I'm not sure which to go to next.
@rebeccapinto99264 жыл бұрын
I started on the ordinary and in between that and moving on to PC’s, I used La Roche Posay Redermic (0.3%).
@teriwhite41514 жыл бұрын
Bohemianwildone I was hesitant about the price on Paula’s Choice too but I will say I think it’s given me much better results than the Ordinary retinol products. PC often has 20% off deals (that’s how I bought mine). Also if you mix half retinol and half moisturizer when starting you can make it last longer and your skin will probably be happier. It’s a pretty strong product. Good luck!

Been avoiding the Ole Henrikson "banana" range because I assumed it would smell of bananas which I find nauseating. If anyone can reassure me that it won't I might give it a try.

Cosmic Spud it’s citrusy not bananas - that reference is to a yellow soft focus pigment that blurs imperfections x

Nadine I'm finding it hard to wear mask When do wear one ya can bet my face will come out in spots. What can I use ? It's so embarrassing. Thanks anne
@lorainemcgillivray774 жыл бұрын
Hi obviously not Nadine, but you may find using a salycillic wash once a day helps (the Inkey list has a fragrance free version as does Cereve). Use it in the area you are breaking out and leave on for at least 60 seconds before rinsing. Don't wear makeup in the mask area (nobody sees that half of the face anyway) and use a calming/soothing serum. A lightweight fragrance free moisturser eg gel cream on top of the serum will help your skin barrier (the mask is causing irritation and a weakened barrier makes us more prone to spots, redness, inflammation etc). Wash your face as soon as you get home and the mask is removed for the day, to get any sweat and dirt off your face, allowing it to breathe. Your skin is irritated so fragrance free products will help. If you're able to tolerate it a retinol/retinaldehyde/tretinoin will also help as vitamin A was originally used/is still used for acne. I hope that helps. I think Nadine has a video on "maskne" but there are many around on youtube eg Dr Dray and Gothamista. Best wishes.

Maybe invest in a silk mask 🤷🏻♀️ less hot so less sweating maybe

After years of not doing a lot to my face I’m getting swayed by all these videos about acids and things, but I don’t feel too great about the plastic deluge all of this stuff creates. I wish you could just go to an old fashioned chemist with an empty bottle and get it filled up with the stuff you want instead of having to consume all the packaging.
@catnip45874 жыл бұрын
A lot of companies are packaging products in glass. Is that more comfortable for you?

Catnip 4 yes, but it’s still more and more packaging and you can’t reuse it
