Shaun, your shop is beautiful. It’s obvious that the Royal Navy trained you well, very shipshape.

Been watching you guys from the beginning, and yes I miss the scenery of the canals, but you guys are building a real life now. And you can tell is so good for Colin, especially with the way Shaun helps with his humor, and attention to Colin's needs as Shaun only knows. Don C. Dexter Maine. Myself and daughter are visiting England next month, and of course with a time line. Would love to meet you two eventually.

Your story about Shaun and measuring cracked me up. Family had a construction business. They had this subcontractor who did iron work of all.sorts, railings, window guards, you name it. He never used a tape measure or a ruler, he had hos Stick. So a length was 2 and a half sticks, or a quarter of a stick. Then when it came time to install the piece it didn't fit, then it would be 'I measured the damn thing right, it was exactly 3 and a half sticks. The damn dog must have chewed the stick!'

You could add a little wood stove in the workshop barn on some of the stone you could leave and then it would be warmer in cold miserable weather. A couple of old used comfy chairs , a kettle on the stove and it would be like my Da’s workshop from when I was a child. I loved being allowed to curl up by the stove with a book and he’d talk to me, tell me things he wanted me to know about life, how to use tools, all sorts. If his friends came over they’d have a drink or two and I’d be allowed to stay as long as I promised to keep quiet and not tell my mother what/who they talked about or when they swore. 🤣😂 Lots of great memories in there and it wasn’t very big, or as well appointed as yours by any means. Have fun with your projects, the ducks would clear out a lot of the Gorse and weeds, in some countries they hire out flocks of ducks to clear land, same with goats. I’ve seen some videos of them herding big flocks of ducks along dirt roads, it’s amazing what they can do in a day or two and then the ducks are fed too. 🥰🙋🏼♀️

We have 18 Indian Runners on our farm. Most of our eggs are either pale pink or white. They are great to have around the farm. So comical and they eat the snails and slugs and tend not to mutilate your garden like chickens do. Best to keep a ratio of 1 drake to 3 hens to keep the peace.

You might want to consider making your garden beds narrower so that you can weed right across them with having to walk around . Then you could put your frame over two beds like a series of greenhouses. You could then look at putting greenhouse plastic over one or more in the autumn to extend your growing season. I agree with another commenter that the soil from the barn would be good in the garden beds.
