Indian Wells 2017 is one of the most amazing performances I’ve ever seen from Federer, particularly against Nadal. I watched the nadal vs fed atp 2011 game live on TV - it was a group match I'm sure. Fed was clinical throughout and nadal kept fighting for every point - even at 5-0 in the second set as a fed fan I could not feel 100% comfortable probably 90% as nadal was moving and playing well even to the last point but simply outclassed! Defo no excuses could be offered from nadal on this one.

In order to beat Rafa and Djokovic, Roger needs to 1) Play lots of inside in to Rafa’s backhand and Novak’s forehand( especially against Djokovic, which strokes haven’t half of Rog’s heaviness) 2) Be solid and confident on the backhand side. When he can run around he must do it, but he has to show that is backhand is there and isn’t going to hold him back: when he shows you that if you try to hit to his backhand you get an aggressive inside in/out forehand, a solid top spin backhand or a knifing slice, even Nadal and Djokovic start to put pressure on themselves and risk more( which means more errors).

Currently Djokovic is more of an issue for Federer, than Nadal is, which he managed to figure out (on Clay Nadal is god against both, even though Djokovic won some matches, but recently he beats djokovic on clay as well). Vs Nadal, Federer's backhand was the main issue, (Slicing and left hand, slicing fits Nadal's top spin) vs Djokovic, it is more about mental strength, however he is older than Djokovic. Federer and Djokovic had an even head to head, and basically Federer's game suits better against Djokovic than Nadal's, however since he is older he is unfortunately less able to execute it. Many of those grand slam matches vs djokovic were about 1-2 points. For Djokovic, Nadal's game is a perfect matchup, basically he is the anti-Nadal, just as Anti-Federer Nadal is.

@MI-ct9eh4 жыл бұрын
@@James_utd123 Federer is by far the greater grass player, and it's not even close. 19 titles vs 6, 8 Wimbledon vs 5, 12 Wimbledon finals vs 6. Win percentage 87.4% to 84% and Fed's won more grass matches than Djokovic and Nadal combined. Just because peak Djokovic beat a very old/mid-late 30s Fed at Wimbledon (& only just) doesn't make him the better grass court player. In fact, Fed schooled Djokovic when he was #1 & defending champion at Wimbledon in 2012, when Fed was closer to his best, but still not at that level.

Great comment, though I think Federer in beast mode is also unbeatable on hardcourts. Some mental issues in tight moments cost him the H2H against Djoker, who plays super consistent but less aggressive. So if roger hits the winners and attacks the net, he’s better imo :)
