My daughter has a lofted bed, and we used beaded curtains and a sari wrap I found at goodwill for a curtain to create what she called her cave.

Your daughter has Bohemian style. You can bring all those lovely colors together with a solid bedspread. Maybe gold or pick a color out of the rug and use a muted tone of that color. You can also pull those colors together with the curtain for the bed, pillows, some hanging plants. I love the rug too. Also some whimsical art, a mirror with a color frame... so many ways to tame the colors of the rug and still enjoy its flamboyant beauty.

As far as the gap between the wallpaper and the woodwork, you could take a sample of the paper to a paint store and get some sample pots of paint matched to the paper. Use an artist brush and the appropriate color. May be tedious but well worth the effort. Keep the sheen in mind for the paint.

In an old house, you cannot expect level floors, square corners, or even walls. I love colors, especially the guest and baby’s rooms. And I’m with Juliet - her rug rocks. One word of advice - give yourself some time in the tub. You might love it.

If you ever need a straight vertical line for wallpaper just use a plum bob - a piece of string with a weight on the end. Perfect vertical no matter how old your building 😊

I just had to tell you how much I love your guest bedroom that you painted yellow. It's such a pretty shade of yellow too. And the fact that it gets lighter towards the bottom of the wall is something I have never thought of before, but would love to copy if you don't mind. And the colors that the kids picked out are so warm and inviting. The baby's nursery is such a happy color. Basically your house is gorgeous, inviting, and full of history. I absolutely love it. I'm not a tub person either but your master bathroom tub is exactly like mine and I needed to use it when I got a pinched nerve in my back and the jets were awesome. They gave me great relief so you just might want to keep it for therapy when yours or Andrew's back gets sore from all of the lifting you two do.

I've put up a lot of wallpaper...Try painting the edges with a watercolor paint that you can blend to match. Little sable brush. I'm not sure about caulk???

I would refinish the tops of the stairs and either paint or wallpaper the kick plates. The only opinions that matter on how your home is decorated is yours and your family's. Especially little Juliette with her room. But I personally think her room looks beautiful. And especially love how fabulous that rug is! 😉🥰

It was a small room, and with both of us in there trying to match the pattern as we hung each strip, fit it all around all the bathroom fixtures etc. Amazing we didn't divorce!!!! I swore I'd never do that again.....and I haven't! Kudos to you for a lovely wallpapered room, especially if you're still speaking to each other, haha.

Hi, that bell thing you said is a butter lamp stand for Buddhist alters. You melt butter and put a cotton thread inside and light it when the butter settles. It’s a Buddhist thing

Oh, Jocelyn, the house looks so good. If that tub has jets in it that work, believe me you are going to want to keep it and use it after a very hard days work, it should be very relaxing if the jets do what they are supposed to. I would love to have one because I have osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and they say it helps a lot with body aches. Good Luck with everything. I had a bad accident a few years ago and having a tub has been a god-send for dealing with my chronic pain from the injuries. I don’t use medication for it but a soak in a hot tub makes all the difference! Before you tear out the tub try living with and using it for a while - you might be surprised! Your house is going to be such a lovely home 💜

I made a stencil to do the risers of my stairs. It's 5 point star and sorta a three point comma like yin yang but with 3 thinga-ma-jigs. I have three going across but my old steps are narrow. I have the back ground painted a lined color and then used antiquing gel to kind of make it look old and kinda dirty but you could do it a solid color and stencil whatever you want. Couple of coats of urethane and Bob's yer uncle. It's been up for almost 20 yrs and no issues.

I think this would be a wonderful solution! We painted ours in 3 shades of the same color then numbered from bottom to top in white. Everyone always compliments them before anything else in our home, lol!

The house is so beautiful. Have been looking for a similar style in another part of PA. I've wallpapered since I was young (mommy's helper). Note for next time. Start your first strip in an inconspicuous corner. Measure approximately the width of the wallpaper on the wall and subtract about 2-3 inches. Plumb the wall at that point and align the edge of the wallpaper strip with the plumb line. That makes the wallpaper straight. Replumb at every corner to keep it straight. I'm sure there's a utube video that would explain it for you. Also, you might think about carpeting the steps and the platforms. "In the old days" they would carpet the steps and they had a metal bar that would keep it from slipping. Might be expensive though. Hope this might help. Can't wait to see it decorated (I hope) and landscaped. Prayers for you and the baby.

For the big rugs all around the house- you can buy a big roll of carpet pad foam at home depot/lowes for ~$20 and cut it to fit under the rugs to give them extra padding! Makes the rugs feel much more expensive and super comfy underfoot (good for homes with hard floors!) My mom learned this trick while working at a home renovation & design company- can do the same with any carpetting, paying for an upgraded pad under a carpet really makes a difference!

Yes master bath shelves need to be replaced with a beautiful antique cabinet with glass doors. Your beautiful "new" home is a show stopper! I love historic homes, and hope you have many years of enjoyment raising your 😇 children there.
