Crazy! After discovering her videos about a year ago, I have reduced my rubbish from 2 bags per week to half a bag per week. Sometimes even less.

What about waste from vacuuming? I've always wondered about that.

I love this! I've waited for this video for a year. Im at the end of transitioning into a zero waste lifestyle and currently teaching over 200 households how to be zero waste. I will let them see this. :D

Thank you! It's a project in The Netherlands, called 100-100-100 (100 households, 100 days, 100% zero waste). 100 city's are doing/have done it. I am organizing the project in The Hague, a big city in The Netherlands. The households get a assignment every week, such as: count the number of packages you open in one day. They also weigh their waste, there is an online platform where they can share experiences and ask questions and we organize activities such as a workshop minimalism and a tour of a waste disposal company. The participants learn a lot and love it!

Some of these issues seem like they pose really simple solutions. Why can't the wristbands and clothing tags be made out of natural fibers for example? And I've shopped at some places where clothing tags are held onto the fabric with twine and some sort of safety pin.
@missmatti8 жыл бұрын
I want to ban the safety pin too! Haha.. Unless it is a good one you can reuse which most of them seem not too. :(
@acmulhern8 жыл бұрын
This was very interesting, although you mentioned before that you wear contact lenses. Where do they go? And what do you do with the solution bottles?
@violettaschmieder20968 жыл бұрын
You could wash the shoe sock thing and then cut a hole in the middle to make a hair tie out of it. and you could reuse ribbons as gift decoration. or diy something with them
@christina91568 жыл бұрын
in another video you said condoms were one of the things that can't be recycled - what about those?

how do you deal with first aid supplies from a zero waste aspect? bandages, wound clensers, antibiotic ointment, etc.?

Straws are the worst. Working in bars and seeing the bins full of straws is so annoying.
@LisaStojanovski8 жыл бұрын
Plastic straws are not recyclable? That seems like something that could be easily fixed! Especially as straw use is so widespread.

metal. straws.
@marca41628 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can make some ornaments? With the straws and string you can do some cool diamond-like hangers. And maybe knit a puppet with the clothes tags and use all the rest as filling?

That is amazing that the whole mason jar is from 4 years! I am transitioning to a zero-waste lifestyle and your channel is so helpful! I definitely can relate with the straw issue!
@TheSUPERHAPPY18 жыл бұрын
Bar Tenders use straw colours to signal to the person bringing you your drink what alcohol is in the drink Where I worked: Red = Rye Blue = Vodka Yellow = Rum To lesson your chances of the bar tender giving you a straw - order directly from bar tender (because the bar tender won't have to worry about person bringing you your drink knowing which drink is which) or order a beer (straws don't come with beer) :) For SOME drinks we'd put TWO straws in one drink (if it was pressed or diet) crazy to think of all the straws

It's weird that the people that know what you're doing (the photographers and people at the conferences/events) still make you wear those bands and use those tapes.
@sonianyanyan69788 жыл бұрын
What alternatives do you use instead of band aids since I'm interested in reducing my waste but I'm still quite prone to getting cuts and such

Got a question for you. (Promise .. it's not a trick question.) How do you manage paper "waste" products for personal hygiene (ie, the bathroom)? I live in an RV and it's NOT optimal to toss your waste into the septic tank. Compost? Use cloth and wash/reuse? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
@JuliaRittereiser8 жыл бұрын
wow, impressive. no where close, but working on it. what do you do with the luggage tags/stickers you get when you fly? or do you strictly travel with carry on? (some airlines put those tags/stickers even on carry ons' I experienced recently...

I'm going to university soon and I'm hoping I can accomplish a zero-waste lifestyle! The only problem is that there are no bulk stores in the Netherlands, so I'll have to really look out for package-free stores.

what's an eco-friendly way to floss? and does floss go in trash?
@Trashisfortossers8 жыл бұрын
I suggest using a cotton floss that you can compost.
@es31258 жыл бұрын
mfzv87 I use silk thread, I can't get my hands on cotton floss. Just get some silk from a fabric store and pick out the strings.

Thanks for sharing! Those desiccant packets can be useful for when you accidentally get your phone wet! Also, those concert wristbands would make good plant ties (I assume you're growing a few potted veggies?). How much are you putting to recycling these days? I assume you're avoiding it as much as possible?

Amazing as always! I am a little bit curious though how much trash would you have if you showed us also everything that you recycle :) nowadays i make about half a trash can worth of trash per year but i am still uncomfortable with how many recyclable thrash (especialy paper) i had. Thats what i wanna focus on in 2017. :)
