The dealer's in the backstreet
Screaming to her phone
Someone stole her stash and
She's gonna kill em now
We ran out to see what happened
Then slinked back to our home
Drew the shades
Locked the door
Unpaused Game of Thrones
Joe Strummer's been dead for too damn long
And now we’re all just numb to what's gone wrong
Hiding in our homes
Don’t talk to them
We don’t fight
We don't riot
Even when the war's outside our door
We don’t fight
We don't riot
Even when the war's outside our door
We don’t fight
We don't riot
Even when the war's outside our door
They're rioting in Virginia
We watched it from our phones
And changed our Facebook pictures
To congratulate ourselves
We make nervous jokes and whispers
About the sexts we’re sending out
And how the NSA's always listening
I wonder if they’re turned on?
Joe Strummer's been dead for too damn long
And now we’re all just numb to what they’ve done
You give an inch, and they'll just take your arm
No, we don’t fight
We don't riot
Even when the war's outside our door
No, we don’t fight
We don't riot
Even when the war's outside our door
We don’t fight
We don't riot
Even when the war's outside our door
Staring while standing still
Most times gun shots are cherry bombs around here
We could be sleepier
We could sure sleep easier
But, sometimes, them cherry bombs mean, i mean…
War’s outside our door
No, we don’t fight
We don't riot
Even when the war's outside our door

About 5+ years ago I worked at Apple and a customer told me to listen to his song. I added it to my playlist and never listened. Today I decided to let my playlist play without skipping. Today I heard this song for the first time. OMFGOSH a work of art! I regret not listening five years ago

It Could Happen Here... when I listen to this song I feel a bundle of emotion from that podcast, and the helpless horror I feel at the world. I feel a glimpse of the beauty and sadness and pain of the human struggle. It could happen here... it likely will one day... and even now it is happening in many "here's" as we speak.... Yet I still feel the world will one day become a good place. I also feel there will be many more generations of hell before we get there. And that things will get worse before they get better. What we do now matters, though. We can help nudge humanity forward to something better. It's an intergenerational relay race and we must do our part. That's what I try to do with the videos I make for my KZbin channel. It's my attempt to make a contribution. Anyways... what was I saying? Oh yeah, good song.

Also Joe Strummr is a reference to the Clash, a band that was super pro action. Even violent revolution. The Clash decried white people specifically allowing themselves to be placated while the black community had the unity and strength to stand together and resist.
