That movement Tomiyasu did was absolutely phenomenal. Until that moment, City's defensive line were winning all the aerial duels. Who in their right mind would expect that a left back, who usually comes in to close the game and solidify the defense, would make a run like a number 8. Arteta took the risk, threw a punch and it landed. Big props to him for that.

Man City should have been down to 10 men at 35 minutes. Kovacic was very late, made contact, caused pain, instant red by the bookm but the ref waved it on, no VAR, comical, unfair. Man City get very few red cards.

The moment Rice won back that ball in front of the Arsenal six yard box was the moment I knew we are playing to win and not to draw. Then followed the phenomenal long pass that split the MCity defence from Thomas P which produced the goal.🎉🔥. Performances to note, Ben White, Soliba, even Raya’s goal keeping although a bit shaky was still impressive. And the there is Gabriels both of them, Odegard … in fact the team and the managerial team, classic performance in all.💪🏾👏🏾.

You are right to mention all the unavailable players for both the teams. But the post treble MC system in most games has been heavily dependant on rodri let alone other key players in the squad. This is probably the first time Pep would have thought with the absence of his players that arsenal have a more commanding midfield. The video actually doesn't justify the box midfield that City were playing with in game. It became a very narrow/central tussle between the two because of this. And yes we did win games without them, but not against the Arsenal's, Liverpool's, etc. These big games have always required their brilliance for City. Fair play to Arteta for his genius in the game management, it really looked like something pep would do. Also before mentioning the absence of saka being big. I personally think saka actually makes arsenal a very good wide attacking team with all his qualities. And that is exactly why I think Arteta didn't want him in the game as all the times before this, arsenal have lost to us.

@@mikkelkold9633 Doku switching to LW forced White to stay back else Benjamin would have just doubled up-with Jesus on Gvardiol because Tomiyasu-Gabriel-Saliba will be the new back3. No one was expecting Tomiyasu to invert that high up the pitch and into the midfield as he is a traditional pure defender unlike Zinchenko who is naturally a midfielder. Foden was also looking to exploit the space Tomi left. If that move hadnt worked and City hit on the break down their RW and scored ,everyone will be blaming Tomiyasu for leaving his position. You get games like these, I remember back when when Klopp came up against Wenger, back in the day, they cancelled each other out. Havertz is key to AFC change in form against City. City have no choice but to factor in a hold up merchant. It doesn't even matter if he has a good or bad game. Haaland isn't a great footballer (yes unbelievable striker) but you have to factor him in as a hold up merchant. I'm sure that played a part in City changing thing up with Silva. They must have come with a plan for Havertz, saw he wasn't on the team sheet, factored in Jorginho, needed to cancel out his CM attacking threat, pulled back Silva and it largely worked. Anyhow, teams now have a workable blueprint to compete with City on the day. City haven't moved on from not dealing with two up front, here you had Havertz and Tomiyasu doing the damage. Haaland a great striker but a meady footballer, he barely can deal with being man marked. Yes once KDB and Rodri are back, City will look explosive again but Haaland will remain central, that will not change. Him cancelled and long balls/hold up merchants will result in goals and difficulties.

Luck is a very great thing to have, especially when wanting to win her prem. You could argue that Leicester city winning the prem was full of luck since the top teams all struggled, and they managed to hold on unlike arsenal last season. -yeah it’s unlucky that pep doesn’t have probably the two most important players playing, but he still has class players that probably are starters for the top clubs around the world as backups. The trajectory of Martinelli late strike was headed towards the top right corner of the net should Ake's deflection had not occurred. I swear, one win against City and Arsenal fans are all acting like they've won the league -- you're 2 points ahead of City and drawn up with your rivals. Oh, and only 8 games into the season. So quick to forget how quickly things can change, and often at vital points in the season. I remember Arsenal fans singing "we're going to win the league" last season only for City to go up another gear. I think this win was probably a fair result, but it could've been different pretty easily. Ake's shot goes in and it's a different game, Kovacic gets sent off and it's a different game, butterfly effect etc. etc. -- but this game is not a make-or-break moment in the season regardless of the result. Important for Arsenal to build off, definitely, but beyond the 3 points against the title defenders and Arteta beating Pep for the first time, we have yet to see how significant it will actually be.

@@laser__unicorn I think it's just funny to see how the pundits and fans react. City was struggling at this same point in the season last year, and look what they did then. Anyone who's writing off any team (especially City) at this stage of the season is surely joking. City has shown time and time again that they have the character to win big games and trophies -- a few bad games (3 losses in the last 4) means something is up, but we've seen them struggle and recover time and time again.

It was 11 v 11 both sides trying to make sure they kept a clean sheet. Simples. Only one team conceded. Simples. Where’s the complexity? They both thought 0-0 would be Ok and Arsenal said ‘let’s Nick it with a late one’, and they did it. What’s the mystery? Only that they weren’t already 2-0 down, because Arteta had already said ‘ we go a tight draw or a tight win’ and everyone said ‘that means we lose again’. Emirates is very slowly learning that their boys are learning how to win ugly! It’s a slow education, when team and fans both understand we’ll be ready to win the league.

Just luck, you can have reason to point out after won only. It is just luck to hit the defender and score. You can say Man city is too passive but at the end it is just luck to score. Not agree with this title!!!

Typical Havertz. That’s his one killer assist for the season, I wonder when he’ll score his killer goal? Probably in the UCL.

City were missing De Bruyne and Rodri, we were without Saka, Partey and Martinelli from the start, Martinelli came in after half time because of Trossard injury and Party came on very late. City should also have been down one man as well....... No excuses, we were solid, disciplined and controlled and thats the difference.

Nah, it was luck. Ake sinks that first goal, the game is different. Also Arsenal did bottle it. City were unstoppable at the end of the season. Arsenal's job was to beat the other teams. We can talk stats and grinding out nil nil draws against City, but Arsenal full strength may still be just below City full strength.

City won the league against Liverpool TWICE because they won critical games that should have been dropped points.

Deflected goals are lucky and this was the second fortunate one in consecutive games for Arsenal.

@@blockchaingainz1191 Not blaming anyone, just making an observation. So that's two victories against the Manchester teams at home but do you think Arsenal can repeat their wins over these two sides in the return fixtures?

Arsenal didn't not win the league because they couldn't beat Citeh, they didn't win because they lost and drew to too many teams they should have beaten, lesser team. If they had beaten those teams they could have afforded to lose to Citeh, after all Arsenal did the double over Leicester the year they won

@@gooner7331 Well yeah, it's good to win FA Cup, I know, but that doesn't make you a big team... What I meant earlier was any significant trophy any league any where or Europa or UCL..

@@tanumoydas1782in England the FA cup is considered to be the 3rd most important after the champions league and premier league by most of the older fan base (of which i'm one 🙈😂). Even among the younger fan base it's at least 4th. No one considers the 3rd European competition that important (can't even remember what it's called). It's like the league cup. No one cares about it unless you win it
