Fair play to Colby today. The criticism reallg seemed to give him some fire in his belly. He did a great job linking the play today and getting more involved in the action. I thought we looked good going forward in the first half and tough in the second. Shocking foul for the red obviously.
@shuttz98 Жыл бұрын
Yengi offered something different to Bishop which got our other attacking players more involved . He was then dropped once bishop was back and we didnt look threatening at all. That's where the criticism came from, not the goals or Bishops quality. Bishop was better at that to day and it was good to see we actually had players get around him quickly.

Very good performance from everyone today, I don’t know why people complain about Bishop, he works hard for the team & his goal tally says it all. I thought we were lucky that Pack wasn’t sent off when he pulled back their midfielder. The Steve Evans post match interview is a must watch! Play up Pompey!

I slowed it down to 0.25 speed to see the 'kung fu kick' on Saydee - how can anyone complain about the red card, it was an outrageous challenge! Some outstanding saves by Norris deserve a mention too, and I agree Paddy Lane was my MOM. Great performance, maybe not quite at the level against Bolton but doesn't matter - 3 points was the main target and they delivered! PUP!

An important game to win, for sure. Let us hope that it is the catalyst for a good run of results now. I'm on the fence as regards Bishop and his contribution to the team. He does get some good goals (as per today) but Yengi seems so much more rounded and team- motivated. Still, not complaining really. A win is a win. Wishing you all at Fournil....... a great New Year and many thanks for the vids. Come rain or shine, you guys are there. Nice to see Fishtank, by the way.

Nice to see a team wanting to take us on at Fratton park . A really good game to watch , Pompey played some great football , everyone dug in and played their part and the crowd didn't get too anxious when they equalised . It's been a taxing holiday fixture list and Stevenage did have an impromptu break.on Friday so full credit for the win and we deserve to stay on top after that .

Thank you Tom, Andrew, Reece and the fournil faithful. We did it lads, got a win under our belt again against a very good side. Stevenage are playing exceptionally well and listening in today on the radio was an exciting game indeed. Super happy with the result and super happy to hear your thoughts of the overall game. I'm pleased Colby got a chance to show why JM has faith in him to start each game. This was the confidence booster they all needed and maybe our poor performances recently have been a mental game rather than a ability deficiency. What a crazy end to the game too.....Red cards everywhere! Thanks for all the hard work making these videos and look forward to the match highlights on Saturday!! 🎉

We played some exceptional football today and if Kamara had his finishing boots on we’d be 4-1 easy. I know I said bore score 1-1 but I really enjoyed today’s game. Don’t know what Steve Evan’s had to complain about either, all cards were fully warranted and the kung-fu antics were beyond dangerous! Tom, I’m sorry but you shouldn’t easily dismiss those people who think the Portsmouth team would be more fluent and mobile without Colby Bishop. Over the years Pompey have had centreforwards who might not have scored as many goals themselves but these players certainly held the ball much better, were more mobile and made a much greater number of assists to the greater benefit and good of the team. I’m afraid Bishop’s response to his goal today was extremely poor, it should have been a celebration for the team but he simply made it about himself. He’s certainly not a Championship player and in my opinion is extremely fortunate that Yengi hasn’t been given a longer run in the team.
@Fournilwrittenalloverit Жыл бұрын
78 games, 36 goals, 6 assists in my book makes Colby Bishop far more of an asset to us than if he wasn't in the team. For the last few weeks I've heard from numerous people that 'it's no coincidence that we take 12 points from 12 without Colby and now we've only got 2 points from 9' or 'we can't score goals with him on the pitch' etc etc and I think it's a ridiculous argument. He's the best striker in the division, and also in the conversation to be the best player overall too. He can drop deep, you find him out wide occasionally, stats wise he creates the most out of any other player at this level - and is 2 short of the league's top scorer. But everyone is absolutely entitled to their opinion, although to me the thought of us being better off without him is nonsensical. Thanks for watching.
@andrewpeace756 Жыл бұрын
@@Fournilwrittenalloverit Tom, nobody is saying Colby Bishop is a bad footballer but as a professional statistician I think you need to be careful with your stats. Football is a team game and ultimately it's about how many goals Portsmouth score not just how many Colby Bishop gets. Fortunately Paddy Lane is scoring goals but given the formation JM wants to play it's imperative that Kamara and Robertson score more goals if we want automatic promotion and not just a place in the play-offs. We need a centre forward creating chances for these players as well as scoring goals for himself.

Cracking game of football & great to get back to winning ways ..no one is going to win every game even if we all got a bit carried away early on but some of the social media comments have been ridiculous this last week or so we’re not Ipswich ( going mad not winning at Bristol or Cambridge last year) or Sheffield ( who completely abused there own players at Peterborough) we’re not some prem fans who think we have every given right to win everything we’re Pompey who back the boys whatever let’s just hope that continues from now on ..win or lose…..Rant over sorry!

Hiya Tom and Andrew, hope you had a good Christmas and got everything you asked for, and a happy new year to you guys. Well that was a close one wasn't it? Stevenage made us work hard for that result today and really tested us in the second half but despite a few players looking a bit leggy towards the end, which is understandable during such a hectic schedule of games, we defended like warriors and put everything on the line to get the job done. I thought both goals were good but that back heel by Colby, what a great finish that was. He has been getting a bit of criticism recently which baffles me a little to be honest. I think he's gonna be key for us over the next couple of games now we have Yengi out playing in the Asian Cup. Stevenage were playing dirty towards the end and Nathan Thompson's tackle on Saydee was disgusting. That was a Bruce Lee tackle the boot was so high. I hope Saydee is okay and not too badly injured after that. We needed that win today after a rather poor christmas period. We all gotta really get behind the lads now and hopefully build another good winning run. Onwards and upwards to Cheltenham on Saturday. Let's hope for a happy and successful 2024. Keep the faith and play up Pompey 🔵 ⚪ 🔵

nah mate I was in the away end with Stevenage and most of the things happened there. they were all so clear for both teams yet ref didn't do nyash, like that handball shout against the Portsmouth defender. unbelievable that that wasn't a pen. also you talking about the 5:42 moment with kamara? He wasn't even touching him he was just off balance and fell.

Thank you for your always interesting fab videos. I was worried that you put the kiss of Death on the team when you said in a round up a few weeks back that we are watching the champions. Its important we have a good performance away at Cheltenham Saturday. On another point almost a year since John took over as manager. A very articulate and intelligent guy. I admit i was hugely disapointed at the time hoping for Chris Wilder but what good judgement from Andy Cullen and Rich Hughes. (Much better then the Birmingham City owners) He has such a bright future and sincerely hope he stays at the club for a long time.

Wasn't expecting much after the dismal Christmas games, so a welcome surprise to win and a goal from Bishop. Opposition teams have worked out how to stop him and he needs more mobility to his game so we're not so predictable. That's what's been so frustrating. Hopefully he can kick on now. Nathan Thompson makes Joe Morrell look careful and disciplined with his red card count. Could've been much worse with a challenge like that.
@pompeyfan01 Жыл бұрын
What’s this hands to the ears thing from Bishop? Someone one needs to remind him he’s come from ACCRINGTON STANLEY & he’s achieved absolutely nothing so far, well except one goal from open play in over 2 months. Ask Curtis how doing that has worked out…. AFC Wimbledon, & like Curtis, he’s unlikely to ever get above league 1 level.
