Back in 1969, I found a 32 hot rod roadster with a hemi and a 36 Ford ragtop rusting in a farmer's field in Sunnymead, CA. He didn't want to sell them because he was going to "restore" them one day.

Those guys are the worst. I guarantee you those cars sat there and rusted into the ground.
@johnhughes1783 Жыл бұрын
@@BangBang-hk4rgUnfortunate yet understandable since it's a link to their memories to younger days. It would help if you were a neighbor and you could let him know he could still be part of it. Idk if that would work unless he had a wife who was pressuring him, otherwise those guy's can't let go.

@@BangBang-hk4rg You call them the worst because you don't understand their situation...if you're a car guy you would .
@ShogunAutoworks Жыл бұрын
@@duncandmcgrath6290 i understand the sentiment notnthe actions. Its the automotive equivalent of not being able to service your wife anymore and another man can, you dont have any interest in laying a finger on her anymore you dont even look at her. But everytime a man comes that would, and shes willing, you leave her chained in the outhouse laying in filth eating rats that happen to scamper by at night. Yeah good times but if you cared about the car any amount whatsoever youd at least rather see someone do something than to see the thing just rot till the wheels fall off and its so bad it cant even be moved at all for you or anyone. Ive had my mustang since i was 16 no kids my wife cant even drive it because its 5 speed swapped. I met her in it and i married her at wge 31 in it. But ill be damned if id let that car sit and rot before id find someone that loved it and wanted to give it love to get it back on the road. If i dont have any kids by then damn ill find someone. A friends kid, a neice nephew, someone. The cutlass in my profile pic was my grandfathers. He died. My grandma wants to enjoy it a lil longer then sell it She cant drive it shes damn near blind now. They went to cruising the coast every single year in that car and my wife and i from dating to married rode with em in the back, top down. At some point (grandma for example) you gotta let it go if you care as much as you say you do. Otherwise its gonna sit in that shop or field going to shit as a daily reminder that you are too. Id rather pass it along or sell it while its still good and remember it that way, than see it going to junk under an oak tree covered in briars and bird shit. not how i wanna remember it.
@ShogunAutoworks Жыл бұрын
@@johnhughes1783 absolutely correct. Given what i said id be more apt to sell to someone near me that would let me continue to enjoy it as they clean her up.

So true. Stepping up from a model A, a 31 for example to a 32 is a huge increase in costs. It's moving to a much higher class of hotrod.

"The big guys in hotroddding has a 32"..So if the money is telling you who is a hot rodder, then neither you or the other "hotrodders" is reaL hot rodders. You dont even have a real 32. Its a Brookeville...and the quintessensial hot rod is a 28/29 on 32 rails..if you have done your homework. ;)

Couldn't pay 20k for a body. Who is he kidding. A Brookville body is over 20k and has been 20k for as long as I know.
@bradevans7935 Жыл бұрын
If you're in the US, $20K for a Brookville body is a rip-off. 5 minutes of internet research gives me 3 suppliers who sell them between $12.5K and $14K. If you shop around, you can find a body already mounted on a reproduction frame for $17.5K. Sure, if you're outside of North America, you'll pay extra - international freight for a body can get expensive.
