Can't find a copy until June 16th 😑 Barnes and Noble sold out, Amazon won't have any copies for a while and shipping is 1 to 2 MONTHS. I can do kindle, but being a book fanatic, I would love to get my hands on an actual copy of it. UGH. Decisions decisions....

•I believe you're confusing "Rebecca Yarros CAN write a separate book about the dragons" with "Rebecca Yarros should have wrote THIS book about the dragons". Because Tairn is really the only remotely likeable character in this entire thing. Fortunately, though, he's pretty much the same character as Draco in Dragonheart, so you're better off just watching Dragonheart. Yes, the ending is a bit of a downer, but it's still a hell of a lot better than Fourth Wing. •This story is the exact opposite of a slow burn. Violet and Xaden go from 0 to 100 WAY too quickly and it lead to the exact problem people expected its sequel to have: Rebecca Yarros has no idea how to advance the relationship beyond this book now that they're together.

I‘m sorry but the plot twist at the end was so clear and predictable from the beginning. Violet is the worst most obnoxious character ever, a „smart“ character written by a very dumb author. The book has a plot but not a story, nothing matters, nobody matters, there is no development of characters or relationships, no tension between Xaden and Violet (bc he was NEVER her enemy to begin with), there is no reason the both of them even like each other. At not a single point in the book has violet ever cared about anyone else beside herself, she has no real bond with anyone. Most obvious Mary Sue I have ever seen. Also all tropes, settings and events are stolen from other stories. Yarros didn’t even bother to research some words she put into the book. She didn’t care about the story besides being smutty. And I don’t see why anyone else should either. This book is going to kill good literature. And everyone supporting it should be ashamed for making the world a little worse.

I mean,it is kill or be killed kind of situation make sense why she would only care abt herself other than Rhi at the beginning. The enemies to lovers are also very vague.Its there just not too intense. And this is the first time Yarros ever wrote fantasy.It'd say its pretty good.Fourth wing is my first dive into the fantasy genre. Could there be improvment? Deffinitely! But yeah its my fav book so far!Plus its still young many books are still on the way.Just hoping its not rushed😅

There was actually an interview with Rebecca Yarros where they asked about the pronunciation of different names, and Basgiath is actually pronounced “bus-GUY-uth”.

I love fantasy but I don't love romance. Some romance in a book is fine. Like A Deadly Education, the Scholomance book by Naomi Novik, totally fine they had romance in it. I wonder if this one will be palatable? How heavy IS the romance exactly? Is it a major part of the book? Is that what makes it romantacy?

If you are okay with the romance being one of the main plot lines I’d say READ IT!! Because the magic system and action was just so so good as well. But I do know some of my friends don’t care for that so I haven’t raved as much to them 🤣

I can see why it seems that way given that it's functional while the characters and worldbuilding around it are a smoldering wreck, but when you look at similarly structured magic systems you see there's very little there. There is only the bare minimum necessary to function and not much else.

18+ there is porn in this book and a LOT of dirty language. I’m 29 and it’s actually really annoying and unnecessary. I would enjoy it much more if she wasn’t “trying” so hard to be cool. It’s a great book, just wait for a bit :)

It’s great. Would be ten times better if it wasn’t so unnecessarily crass and the porn isn’t needed. She’s a great writer, but she’s falling back on “being cool” to get people to buy her book. I’m almost finished with the book, and I really like it. It’s just irksome and annoying at times.

If that’s the best of the year, you really should revisit what do you think about prose. Because even Ellie Brooks rants this and she loves romance. There is a reason for it. This has bad writing. Not simply easy reading. This looks like a draft without editor work or beta reader. Low level dialogues, extremely bad plot holes, even paradoxes, “Nobody. Uses. This. In. A. Book. Because. It’s. Stupid.” Just like that. So if you can’t make a difference here… and you think this book is good… read some books. The thing is: I did find errors in my favorite books too. Being for example a fan of Sanderson (not his book is my favorite) we do find errors in his books. And if you watch his live streams he answers them. But those are so minor issues that the fans are looking under the microscope. This? I’m not a professional editor but I could send this book back easily to rewrite only with my markers thats how bad it is.
