@@chrislee1099 independent Tackle shops make a lot less than you think. You can rarely sell at RRP as all the big online sellers and chains undercut you, so you end up having to price match and losing out a lot. Plus the big chains buy in massive bulk meaning they get extra discounts on trade prices from manufacturers.

Hi Ben, are you sure that you have your loss caluculation correct, if the pond is 1sq km, at 20,000 litres / day = 2mm level / day loss, the rainfall / month on average = the water loss, i.e. you are better off just increasing the outlet pipe a little (100mm?) to get you over the summer? - its good to have some exchange of clean water in the pond also.

Make sure you get water tight concrete because normal concrete will end up cracking if it's constantly exposed to water
@jonb3311
@jonb3311 12 күн бұрын
It can be done without concrete. Dig below the pipes and fill in with clay. Maybe cut a trench all round that side of the lake and fill it with compacted clay. Whatever, it will always lose water, due to evaporation and it'll run away if there's a hot summer. Seen it before in areas where there is running water. I'd not want to fish such an unattractive hole in the ground, created purely for profit.

How deep are the clay pipes in relation to water level? You can't cap them by finding them further back. The water will just find another route. If they are not to deep, best bet its to partially drain the lake and cap them where it transitions from lake to bank if that makes sense.

watching bamabass and Kendall Gray, who both built fishing lakes and both had an issue with leaking, used a chemical compound that you throw in the water and it finds any weak spots in the clay and plugs them. i dont know if its safe for fish or not or if this will help due to the clay pipes but for future reference if you just have seepage through the clay
