I don't know if I should justify any of these responses but in the intrest of honest dialogue and since I offered comment in the first place in add some details as to how serious this is for me. My grandfather is 88 and of complete sounds mind and body. He still does his own yardwork and home repairs. But he is a war vet, he was forced into the Navy because he was a troubled youth that grew up in the slums and when he got in trouble with law it was the military or jail. My grandfather is not a saint, he really should be in jail were it not for his redeemable service to the country. There is no doubt that many off his less than desirable traits are due to a lifetime of CPTSD, he's never had treatment, and he's probably had to do a lot of mental backflips to exist so I often find myself listening to his rambling hero/victim speak. But I listen with love and respect. This is the byproduct out the life he had lived. Doesn't make it any less uncomfortable or crazy. Being totally serious and honest.

North Korea isn't giving up its nukes, and Trump had nothing, and will have nothing, to do with any detente in Korea. NK finally feels secure thanks to its nukes, and can now explore different options in engaging with the world, starting with the most obvious improvement, which is improved relations with SK which no longer threatens it. Likewise, the obvious necessity for SK is to engage NK and cement a relationship that is ambivalent. In order to facilitate a broadening of relations with NK, SK will have to consider investing in NK. But at no point will Trump, or the USA, deserve any credit. In fact, I suspect the USA will have very strong interest in spoiling a warming of relations in Korea.

We have a guy in the Oval Office who spent the entire campaign telling us the election and the media was rigged against him, openly calling for the imprisonment of his opponent, and accusing the FBI of corruption for not arresting her. Since then, he has intensified his attacks on the FBI's credibility. He has continued to say that members of the opposing political party, various government officials, and even _private citizens_ should be in jail. He pardoned Joe Arpaio after Arpaio disobeyed an order given by a federal judge to stop using his position unconstitutionally. These are more than just the inane ramblings of an incredibly insecure person. Belief in the election process, and a code of conduct around that process, is what allows a peaceful transfer of power in this country. It should be obvious why calling for the arrest of a citizen who uses their free speech in a way he doesn't like is horrifying. And the pardon of Arpaio was a direct subversion of the judicial branch's constitutional authority, one of the many examples of the lack of regard Trump has for the separation of powers. The FBI, like all law enforcement, relies on the public trust to do their job. And that job includes being _the only agency that can investigate the White House and Congress._ Most people, hopefully, don't take his statements seriously. But some people do, especially with propaganda reinforcing them from places like Fox and Breitbart. We're all used to politicians lying and attacking their opponents, but this is another level. He's saying things that attack principles foundational to American democracy.

I just got done watching it. I thought it was pretty tame. I was really surprised at the hateful comments on something like that. I try not to assume people are paid, but it seemed a bit much. I guess if you already have it in your head that if he speaks like a normal person, not like Obama then he's a rambling raving lunatic who you've already decided you hate, then you would watch it through that lens. I think his way of talking is refreshing like an actual human being. I couldn't stand Obama's political speaking where he says nothing of substance. Trump also starts out with points because he gave us a tax cut whereas Obama just raised our healthcare premiums. That's all he accomplished in 8 years as far as my life is concerned.
