I haven't played ultimate yet, but I've played a LOT of smash 4, on both wiiu and 3ds and I'm quite good at it. The fighting seems to be much better than brawl, but I was also a nooby kid when I played brawl. That being said, brawl is my absolute favourite by far, and the 1 reason for that is subspace

Brawl did the Star Fox characters right. Fox and Falco were great in the Subspace Emissary. It nailed their characterizations perfectly. Wolf wasn't involved in the plot, but you can find him via a hidden door in The Ruins after clearing the story for the first time. (This is the easiest way to unlock him!) The short encounter scene introducing him is slick.

People diss sonic for being late but you've gotta remember his most recent major journey at the time sent him into the closest equivalent the sonic franchise had to a Subspace: Solaris's Spacetime rift dimension thing. You know what that means: he basically went and pummeled Solaris, intentionally left Elise there for half a damn minute, ran ALL the way through the spacetime rift to reach The Great Maze Entance which mind you to reach the Tabuu Door you need to basically cross half the map, proceeds to just barely make it in time to save literally everyone else and STILL manages to pull a sick pose after being resurrected not even TEN MINUTES AGO. And when all is said and done, before the subspace rifts closed completely he would have to dash ALL the way back to Elise to blow out the flame. And now you wonder WHY it took him so long to arrive into the plot story-wise. He basically was killed, brought back to life and not even five minutes later he already has to kill two Dimension consuming deities with rainbow wings.
