I mean, the cutscenes we got were still p good. Ending cutscene gives me shivers, and I cannot desribe the elation I felt watching the reveal of world of light, especially when kirby hit the ground, Lifelight kicked in and I realized. “Holy shit this theme actually has lyrics like Brawls”

While Ness, Luigi, and Especially Kirby came back to life thanks to King Dedede's Trophy badges, the Real MVP was honestly Sonic, especially since he's the only character who was able to land hits on Tabuu. Think about it, the only thing that would affect the story if the characters didn't have the badges wouldn't be much, Sonic would still come in and still beat Tabuu, don't forget Super Sonic if he needed it. Then when it comes to gods... For Kirby, it's every Monday For Sonic, it's every time almost like it's his job or something.

He was partially wounded due to the chains, and he still did significantly better than Ganondorf against Tabuu’s forcefield. Honestly he was likely more powerful than any individual fighter. Sonic only caught Tabuu by surprise and destroyed his wings, and it took everyone together to put him down for good.

Yep. I agree. Ultimate kind of proves that Master Hand does hold back during his fights with us. If he fought like how a player would, it would be practically be impossible to beat him on his own, much less with Crazy Hand.

I have a theory that tabuu is a corrupted version of the generic fighter from dragon king: the fighting game. After being abandoned by his creator and left to be forgotten, he turned his gamer rage into dark energy, which turned him into a god. Besides the obvious king and hedgehog throwing a wrench in his plans...everything was actually pretty foolproof. Except those stairs...it actually makes no sense for him to have put them there. Without a way into the maze, whether they were revived or not, Tabuu would've won. This is going to sound like a longshot...but I think Master Hand put the stairs there. It's not exactly like we can absolutely tell he's lost consciousness and isn't just immobilized at that moment. It's also just...the only logical conclusion I could come to for those stairs. He's not made of disappointment!

I'm inclined to suppose Tabuu had a real reason for creating the stairs. I think Tabuu had another phase of his plan we never got to see. The way I see it, he would only create those stairs if he had a need for them. We never see him move during a cutscene, in fact he literally brings the world to himself. I interpret this as him being incapable of moving. He creates the steps ... for himself. So he can walk down to the ground of Subspace. But why not wait, then? My suspicion is that when Tabuu can walk, he wouldn't be able to build the stairs. I think he is expecting to lose some/all of his abilities. I think he is trying to become like the rest of the fighters. When he is defeated he explodes, a fate the fighters will never face. Despite all his power, he is mortal. The fighters are not. Despite all his power, his mortality makes him fundamentally vulnerable to the fighters. The only way he can truly be safe forever is to become a part of the world of trophies.

Telling the story with dialogue could've gotten a little weird. If there was dialogue, I'd prefer there to be text boxes of the characters talking. I wouldn't _mind_ characters having flat-out voices, but I guess I feel like there's a higher chance of things going wrong with that approach. I also think the text box option could have some cute artsy approaches to it.

@@zoomzike I'm not that SURPRISED they did it without dialogue in hindsight, considering Nintendo's love of voiceless protagonists in general and how few of the Brawl characters have actual dialogue in their own games; but that's one trope that I've never been a fan of, whether in their individual games or in Subspace Emissary. I still think that a bit of narration/exposition of SOME kind would have helped a lot (and I agree that text probably would have fit better than trying to include voice-acting). But then, my preferences generally run a lot wordier than the average person's (as this comment's length might suggest!).

@@FanZ2626 I like that it's told entirely without dialogue. The mystery of the story would have been totally gone if the characters could talk somehow and therefore spell everything out for you. I think it also adds to the tension in the scenes, there's a lot more focus on body language and movement rather than dialogue and it serves the fan service well (a lot of what subspace was about was showing off the characters in a grandiose way)
