Two things: First - this was NOT a case driven by existential nuances, no matter how much even Dominion declared that, essentially, "regaining their good name" was a critical element that motivated the suit. Dominion is a BUSINESS...and it made a BUSINESS decision, as a BUSINESS is wont to do. Second - it's not been discussed, thus far...but I'm willing to bet every dollar in my pocket that Dominion feared what one, possibly more of 12 people in a jury box, very plausibly harboring exceedingly partisan views driving a laser-focused agenda, might "be up to" where representing the presence of being a "bad actor" having no intention of doing anything except respond in the affirmative in favor of Fox...no matter what. It is abundantly possible (I would suggest likely) that at least one if not more juror was not necessarily being forthright where responding to voir dire queries for expressly that purpose...that there could have been a "fix" on all along by one, possibly more jurors fully intending to engage in "jury nullification" and completely disregard whatever evidence would seem to validate charges against Fox. I believe we are living in times where precisely that sort of "mole mission" might have been in play...and I strongly suspect Dominion, even if secretly whispered internally, shared amongst themselves the plausibility of that proposition.

@@VSVickery so heres the issues. 1.They could have drawn a bad jury and lost. 2. They could have gotten far less in damaged, in 2018 76% of the company was purchased by private equity for 38 million meaning the company valued at 50 million in 2018. A couple years later it claims 1.4 billion in damages? I mean how? Even at triple damages etc. How? You could buy the entire company at double its market cap thrice over for 600 million. 3. The award could get reduced on appeal by a judge to a smaller number due to some law. 4. the supreme court is almost certainly llooking over a 1.4 billion dollar defamation case in evolving media reporting and might just redo defamation law standards. 5. There are other lawsuits still going on, they will have to settle those for additional billions or they could illuminate stuff. 6. the private individuals sued could still end up roping in testimony by fox people. Not everyone sued can afford to settle for a billion. They made the right choice.
