I did not go to this event but I have the flier for their New Year's Eve "New Moon Gathering" Party that was talked about at the end of this broadcast. It's a HUGE foldout poster flier. You can find more "Media Coverage" in my "Media Coverage" Playlist on my channel. (The comments won't allow me to post a direct link here)

It is your fault you let the movement die... We still have free parties and free festivals in Europe (teknival) with tekno music and with the same spirit and sometimes even bigger. Check out "teknival" o free rave party Italy or france to look at what we do
@95pito4 жыл бұрын
Ah of curse they are all illegal, with no permission but that's because we took free party and raves as a form of political fight
@LARAVEHISTORY3 жыл бұрын
@@95pito Who let it die??? You have no idea what you are talking about. After the R.A.V.E. Act in 2002 run by Tipper Gore the wife of the Vice President Al Gore they were passing "Laws" that could hold the "Promoters" as running "Crack houses" and the promoters could get 10 to 20 years in prison...that's what they were threatening the "Underground" scene with here. We had 5 Rave Protests protesting the "Shutting Down" of Raves. I was at all 5 of the Protests and helped throw the last one in 2002. You shouldn't ignorantly throw out accusations like that.
@95pito3 жыл бұрын
@@LARAVEHISTORY i am not accusing anyone in particular but the movement in general, do you know that also in UK and in France the goverments made very strict laws to shut down raves, but still the underground movement keep fighting for the right to free party, with many organizers arrested in the last 20 years, but they kept raving and, particurally in France they still make the biggest illegal raves in the world.
@95pito3 жыл бұрын
@@LARAVEHISTORY the bigger and stronger the movement is, the harder for the goverment to shut It Down. It Is not a personal accusation i made, it's a political critique on how the movement has responded to the laws. And it's not a case that our movement in Europe is strictly correlated with politics, in particular anarchist ideologies that see the Rave not Just a moment to dance free, but as a political action against goverment, a real TAZ as hakim bay described in his famous book

Wow. Memories! I went to so many desert raves back then. It was so much fun. I miss those days so much! 😢 The end of the desert raves was in 1998 when a guy was on LSD at Dune and walked off a cliff and died. His parents ended up filing a huge lawsuit which essentially ended these parties. They blamed the event coordinators and then the city began cracking down. It was a tragic death but it wasn't the fault of the event owners. On another note does anyone remember the Camp Snoopy rave?
@FuzzyGlowCar Жыл бұрын
I was there. His name was John Abel. Around the same time there was an accident where 5 people died when their car drove off an embankment after Jujubeats in 1989. Those two events that changed everything in the scene. I remember that the next event in that area was a permitted daytime event at the Orange Show. It was not bad but just not the same.
