These driver are a menace on our roads. Diving in and out of traffic, going at ridiculous speeds, coming too close to other vehicles at the high speed they insist on driving and placing all of us at risk. Utah roads have become frightening over the last 5 yrs and something needs to be done about it.

As a driver from Idaho who drives through Salt Lake many times, there is a reason Utah drivers are the worst drivers in the USA. It’s based on mostly carelessness and road rage.

The amazing thing is that there is no where to go in Salt Lake City - no need to rush. A lot of people here just like to exert power with their vehicles because they have nothing better to do.

I lived in Bountiful for about a year. When I first moved to Utah people told me the Utah drivers are the worst in the country. After living there I believe that. Why people think they need to drive like that is beyond my comprehension.

This is why I’m an advocate for traffic calming measures, especially in the city where bike and pedestrian traffic is more prevalent, but also on highways. Speed limits should be reflected more in road design, not just by a sign posted every half mile.

In some countries they make the speeding fine based upon a percentage of the speeder’s income. Someone who can afford to buy a new $100,000+ high performance car can easily afford USA speeding tickets. Make it a percentage of the driver’s income and it hurts all drivers equally.

I live out in the county and at the beginning of Summer I did not know our county police officers were setting up places where people are known to speed. They were so serious about all of this they even used their helicopter. They didn't say what the speed would have to be before the helicopter we're getting involved. They just talked about one of the biggest speeders that they had caught. They clocked him at going 116 mph during the daytime and a mustang. The ground units hit him with the radar at first and they were told not to Chase. The helicopter followed him all the way to his front door where ground units went in and gave him tickets. Back in the '70s and some in a little of the '80s state police used airplanes to track down speeders. Now they did not follow you home state troopers would it get directions from the airplane and pull you over. The funny thing is they even have signs of that would tell you aircraft is monitoring your speed. They even have parts that actually use the word speed trap. And neighbors still pulling people over I had two friends on two separate days get pulled over on the same exact highway. I kind of think with the technology we have today it's only a matter of time before our cars call the police report a speeding and then a ticket is printed in your glove box. They are already using the Black box in your car to determine your speeds after a bad accident. Which was never really known to most of us. It was only when high profile cases made the news that people found out about manufacturers doing this.
