As a tech for over 25 years you just disconnect the fuel line and jump power to the full pump to pump it all out maybe an hour or so total time no parts . so a few hundred bucks give or take. Depending on how bad the mixture is though it might destroy the pump than it goes up from there. or drop the tank which on some vehicles is a nightmare

I stopped using Wawa gas years ago. Delivery trucks are filled from a large tank. If that truck held contaminated fuel, other stores had to receive the same gas. Those fuel trucks can deliver to more than one Wawa.

The most common gasoline contaminate is water. Either condensation or a leak is getting onto their supply tanks or they are buying gas from a supplier that supplements with junkyard gasoline. The manufacturers add alcohol to gasoline. This makes it extra hard to keep water out of the fuel because water is attracted to alcohol.

Cross drop by the delivery truck. Diesel dropped in the gasoline storage tank. 10 gallons of diesel spoils 100 gallons of gas. Delivery truck drops at a rate of 400 gallons a minute. Option 2 water. Terminal where the fuel is picked up could be at fault. Those big round storage tank domes accumulate water at the bottom. If the terminal allows level to drop too low b4 switching to another tank ...the loading pumps suck up the water. It goes in the truck and gets dropped in the station.

@@willc5512 once you exceed 1 percent of the total volume of liquid in the ground ( including the amount delivered) you have made dieseline. Ive seen where the terminal switches tanks too late and water is sucked up into the pumps and loaded onto trucks. In that case, it should be pumped off and reloaded. If its a mix you can remove your fuel line and take a sample on the engine side. It will smell like diesel and gas mixed. Gas will evaporate. Diesel mix will eave an oil sheen behind.

Same thing happened to my Father in law about maybe 25 years ago. He bought gas from a 7-11 in Maryland. He had to get his gas tank replaced. at that time it had cost him $600.

U can say that again! The quality of gas is downright awful in most places. Big oil says "if it doesent cause a misfire, its not bad gas". In this case it caused SEVERE misfires, knock, no start cond. & so on. But most of the time garbage fuel will just burn off SUPER fast & pollute really bad but the driver cant see most of that. ugh!

It depends on what the contaminate was. Newer cars suck because they are full of tiny sensors that affect the gas/o2 supply. They showed a summary of the bill, and it had over 2000 dollars in parts, 1000 dollars labor, and something else.

$4K is about right. Systems in newer cars are less forgiving. Repairs more difficult. Plus, inflation. Auto repairs that cost say $1K in 1995 could easily cost $4K+ now.

Prices are out of hand partner I went into to an a c e hardware last week before we knew we was to get a large storm, the next week before the storm hit the same can of waterproofing went from 79 dollars to 119 dollars that's a 30 dollar difference for the same old stock on the shelf. Na, no bitch here sounds about right including inflation and all. Glad you have it like that . I had gotten this women 93 years old this water proofing for her roof because she didn't have the money for a roof that only cost a few thousand dollars in 95 to a bid of nearly 50,000 dollars today sounds about right with inflation an all. And it's really nothing but a 5or 6 thousand dollar job you can donate the Xtra after all I donated my time and materials for free on S.S... I'll expect to hear from you in notifications for information to help with the inflation after all it's only money anyways.

A lot of misinformation in these comment sections. First all gas stations get their fuel from the same tank farms, the tank farm may be owned by Exxon, or Shell, or Chevron, or BP, you get the picture, but all stations that receive fuel in that tank farms area receive the same fuel no matter the brand. What they do when filling up the tanker truck is if the load is going to a chevron station the Chevron Techron additive is add to the tanker truck as it is being fueled up to make the delivery, the same goes with Exxon/Mobil, Shell, BP, you name the station their own fuel additive is added to the tanker as it is being fueled. Those off brand stations don't have any additives added to the tanker as they are fueled up. Now if you are smart you will only buy what is labeled Top Tier fuel, my vehicles only use Chevron 99% of the time and Mobil 1% of the time, I used to put a tank of Shell in now and then as well but Shell only has one station near me now and they always have the message pop up at the pump see cashier. Those are the facts.
