If I am hearing this right, that is $1000 in guns. If that money had been spent on psychiatric help for the son, then it would have at least covered a few visits. It was enough money to get him diagnosed and some medication. Never mind the money that they spent on their horses.

They bought a mentally ill child a gun….ignored his mental illness and went about living their own life with little concern for the kid. He does the unthinkable…..in this case I 100% believe holding these parents responsible is paramount for setting an example. You HAVE to raise ur children….be present and aware.

It's pretty normal in America to get guns for your kids as young as like 6. They even make small, kid sized guns. It used to be you would get your kids into hunting or skeet shooting or whatever and it made for a good gift/bonding. A lot would drive to school with a rifle on a rack in their pickup truck and it would be no problem. Lots of kids had rifles in their trucks. All of that changed in the 90s with columbine though.

Imagine give gov agency deadline so they actually do work and be accountable... Was dong EV rebate with state and it took them 4 months and 5 phone calls to check invoices and approve it. If there is no incentives to make them move faster they will stop working. That's why there is a 5 days policy. If there are issues they could've denied it to be on a safe side, 5 days means that they just lazy to do it on time or dropped a ball or don't care and should be responsible for it. I don't see and issue with that, especially if we constantly have deadlines to pay taxes, to renew registrations, replace expired ID, 5 minutes late for the parking meter etc... and no one gives a crap why you late to do it.

Public defenders aren't hired for their brilliant skills and abilities. The prosecuting attorney is hired and paid for by the state. So are the public defending attorneys. The state's goal is to win its case against the defendant. In my own state, there are no incentives for a public defender to exert maximum effort for a client. In fact, a public defender that wins too many cases could be struck from the list of public defenders available for accused criminals. The terms public defender and fair trial don't even belong in the same sentence.

Even if I wasn’t a troubled teen (I probably was maybe not to this kids extent but in all fairness & seriousness I’m sure I was for a period of time a troubled teen) but even if I wasn’t my parents would NEVER purchase even a paintball gun for me, let alone an actual gun that can take a life!!! Even if I hunted as a teen my parents would NEVER buy me or my siblings a gun! & this kid had absolutely no interest whatsoever to use that gun for anything other than killing his peers. So I think it’s safe to say the majority of us watching would say his parents are 100% responsible for that kid & what they allowed/enabled their offspring to do what he did. & this is exactly why in every state guns cannot be given as a gift bc guns are not transferable, why? Bc than they’d wind up in the hands of children that can’t handle that type of responsibility (like this is prime example), or ex cons who by law can’t be allowed to bear arms.

@@turtletruth I have to wonder why you deemed it necessary to claim that you are a Marine. While I thank you for your service, how is that even remotely relevant to any point you’re attempting to make? What purpose does it serve other than to be manipulative in attempting to elicit sympathy or convey somehow that your opinion carries more merit than another’s? Is being a Marine suddenly a free pass that you’re automatically a model parent? I’ve known Marines who were alcoholics and abusive to their families. My point of view still stands that firearms have absolutely no place in the hands of children. THAT is what is insanity. Firearms are not toys. I’d much rather my children learn self confidence and how to protect themselves by training in martial arts. It’s a much healthier and safer option. I’m an educator. I tell you this because as an educator, I see parents like this absolutely every day of my career. The apple does not fall far from the tree when it comes to children. Narcissistic parents make terrible parents. When you call to criticize their children’s behavior or conduct, they take it as a personal attack against themselves because they view their children as extensions of themselves. They enable and make any excuse imaginable for their children. It’s no wonder why their children have such outrageous senses of entitlement.

I think defense attorney believes jurors are “total buffoons” and thinks it takes asking a question 10-20 different ways to obtain the same answer. Case in point. How many times did she ask the gun store clerk (I say clerk I never understood her title) was the mom’s signature on the receipt….oh about 44 times (I’m guessing bc I lost count at around 17). So I wonder if she feels confident the jury knows mom’s signature wasn’t on the receipt. If I were that witness and after her asking that question about mom’s signature not being on the receipt for the 3rd time I would have responded “I’ve already answered that question twice…why do you keep asking it”.
