I grew up like this and when I called the police on my adoptive parents the police would laugh at me and tell me I deserved it. I called probably at least a dozen times over a 4 year period and every time the police either laughed at me or took my adopted parents side. The neighbors even called the police and the police told them there wasn't anything they could do. Florida police just don't care. Of course calling the police got me hurt even more.

@@Grammie-hk5vb I was never rescued I prayed and begged God to help me. My abuse started when I was an infant. I was lucky I survived. I deal with the mental trauma still. I am 46 now. No one ever talks about the mental health issues that come with surviving this. I never got the help I needed to get through it. Cause once I was 16 I was able to run away from family abuse. Right into the arms of other abusers. I really try not to let my trauma define me. To me that is letting them win, I also don't tell my story people have asked before. So I tried to tell them but it really upset them. So I don't try to give details anymore. What is the point doesn't really help to relive it. At least these children will hopefully get the help they need to overcome their trauma. You have a wonderful day, and be safe.

😢 Unfortunately, this happens way more often than you think in interracial adoptions. The kids are traumatized first from being taken from their family, then they're traumatized by being placed in homes that are abusive. Then they're traumatized by being placed in a "better" home with a "good" family after they've lost all trust in humanity. They will always have the scars. Nothing will fix it and they will always have the anxiety and trust issues. A new family is rarely medically trained to deal with all the issues that will arise. 😢
