Parents need to teach their kids in middle and high school that most relationships don't work, there is always somebody else out there for them, counseling is your friend whenever you need it, and here are some coping skills for you when you and your boyfriend/girlfriend break up: go to the gym, hang out with friends, write in a journal, cook a new dish for yourself, go for a walk, cry it out -- crying is just a way to relieve tension, take yourself out for some ice cream, buy yourself something nice that is still within or just slightly over your budget. We're raising kids who turn into young adults with no coping skills.
