Pointing From The Grave, is a good read. It's about a woman that worked for a company that pioneered DNA technology for solving crimes. Who then got murdered by a guy who was trying to cover up a previous SA crime he committed against her. 15 years later the DNA technology she helped create solved her own murder.

So interested to know the motive -- Did he somehow blame the mom for the relationship with the daughter breaking up? Did he harbor some sort of weird fantasy about the mom that turned violent? @epicsseven7686

It's also possible that the two were involved. It happens often. He may have gotten caught up. The mother wanted to break it off, and he'd snapped. Or it could have been that they were involved. The mother kept stringing him on, and he'd snapped. There are soccer moms who do live double lives. And if this scenario is true. You have to ask yourself. How long has it been going on. It could be anything. But what seems apparent to me is that She was comfortable with letting him in. I am wondering if he's been there more than once. Without the daughter being there.

Had this man been caught at the time of the murder, there is a good chance that he could have been released by now or maybe be close to getting out. Either way, 23 years is a good chunk of his sentence. Now, he's going to start from the beginning. Just goes to show. No one can escape their past!

@RumbleFish69
@RumbleFish69 17 күн бұрын
@thegreyavenger2 Respectfully, this is the killing of just one person, and it's an adult, not a child. The murder of a child usually yields a higher sentence. Sadly, a case like this is not likely to get a life sentence without the possibility of parole, especially back when this happened. Had this been a multiple homicide case, then that possibility increases exponentially. I was personally involved in many homicide cases, and there are many factors the judge considers when sentencing. The biggest factor, in my opinion, is the age of the offender. In that, even if the assailant is a legal adult, maturity at the time of the crime is greatly considered. And, don't get me started on race! This guy was white, so his chances of being given a more favorable sentence is much greater than a minority's chances. I'm retired today, so I can freely say, but the sentencing disparity is quite clear. Even with published case studies, which show a clear difference in the same exact crimes, it continues to this day! Well, he's caught now, and he will probably die in prison....but, there's still a chance that he won't.

This should be titled, "A cold case murder from Chevy Chase, MD is solved." IF you REALLY wanted to describe the victim as a mom, then perhaps a title like, "A cold case murder from Chevy Chase, MD is solved. The victim was a mother." I am no English major but I think that is more apropos than the title they gave it.

My suspicion is that being the daughters ex-boyfriend, the mother may have encouraged her to end the relationship. Another scenario is he was interested in the mother and couldn’t have her. To end her life indicates psychopathy traits of rage, desire to control, exacting revenge.
@epicsseven7686
@epicsseven7686 Ай бұрын
If the lady's daughter encouraged her to leave. The daughter would have pointed that out. Remember. In the video. The daughter never had him on her radar as a person of interest. But there's also a possibility that the two were intimate. The mother decided to break it off, and he couldn't handle it.

Some of the comments here are astonishingly stupid. Yes, the headline is confusing (clickbait?). I thought the same thing as others. But, if you watch the entire video you'll realize that this is NOT about Chevy Chase's mom, and the town was NOT named for Chevy Chase the actor. Smh.

The real problem is that the people making the stupid comments never bothered to watch the video to find out. I lived in the area, so it was a no brainer for me, I knew they were talking about the community outside of D.C., not the actor. The scary thing is, these people vote.

wait. She was 24 when her mom was murdered. That was 23 years ago. That means she's near on 47 right. The suspect is 43? So when she said she starting dating him when she was 15 that would mean that he was ELEVEN years old (he was 20 when he killed her mom) . I think I know I why he killed her mom. Someone has the maths wrong there.

Nope BOTH the street [ runs in DC & Md] & the area [Md] have been in existence since before the USA existed... either his parents named him after those or the commentator who says his real name was cornelius is correct & Chevy Changed his name after those for a stage name since actors & famous people want names that will be easy & popular & for a comedian it's just funny to have a name Chevy Chase for a lot of reasons really if you think about it... the snl/ national lampoon type humor was originally sourced in disgruntled counter culture kids rebelling against the elitism that their parents expected them to embrace & be a part of so it's really a great stage name in that context

@WoodlandT maybe. Time will tell. I remember a few years ago. A wife in a New York suburb body was found slightly past her house. I can't recall all of the details. But there was a surveillance camera that showed an individual who dragged her up the street. Long story short. The lady was intimate with her maintenance man, who lived there a few years ago. Apparently, they were involved. And things went south where he'd snapped and lost it. I hope that isn't the case here. But sadly, this is common where people live a double life. I just found this bizarre. The daughter's ex. Someone who she'd known for several years. Something doesn't add up.
