I hope that the root cause is found out. It is possible that the person who they went over there to "rob" was actually in on the murder and was expecting them to show up. I do not want to seem insensitive, but people will set you up like this for something as small as to step into your place at a good place of employment.

I am strict with my family that we don't knock on unknown house's doors at night (like bing invited toa gathering)at night. We ask the homeowner to either come outside to meet us or flash the porch light a certain number of times. And even if we have been to someone's house, we ring tge door bell and always step away from the door. That's not paranoia, but just basic common safety for everyone. Kicking in a door is never going to lead to something positive. I feelbad forthe Mom, butit sounds like the young man made a bad decision. The homeowner was protecting his household rightly in this case.
