Baltimore sees deadly shooting and officer injured amid holiday celebrations

It's been a busy past 24 hours for Baltimore police handling a rash of crimes--some happening before the July 4th holiday festivities and after--as one business owner calls for a crackdown on criminals.

In Baltimore the mayor is a Democrat. The city council president is a Democrat. The city council members are all Democrats. The police commissioner is is appointed by city leadership. Baltimore's AG is a Democrat. The issues in Baltimore are not due to racism. The issues are due to culture. They are also the fault of the Democratic Party. The last Republican mayor of Baltimore left office in 1968..

If only the problems of Baltimore were so cut & dry (black & white), or so simple! Unfortunately, Baltimore's problems are much more complex & deep rooted. They are not problems that any political party or policy could have prevented, or solve! Your perspective & assessment is foolish nonsense! And it is completely decoupled from reality. I'm certainly not defending Democrats or their policies, I am not a Democrat! And don't misunderstand or misrepresent what I'm saying. Policies (good or bad-although mostly bad) CERTAINLY have played a significant role. But corruption has undeniably had by FAR the most devastating impact on Baltimore-of the factors that can be controlled by city officials, or anyone in Baltimore. To deny that racism, and even more so classism have also been important components is flagrant denial at best, and devious deception at worst. The MOST fundamental problem that Baltimore has faced is the loss of its industrial jobs! The way that happened, how quickly it happened, and how everyone responded to that. When a city and its citizens suddenly loses more than a third of the money coming in and continues to lose more an more, no policy can deal with or correct for that deficit! I mean: all of those wages, as well as the various taxes and other influxes of revenue from those industries... There is no way to "fix" this without somehow restoring a significant portion of that influx of capitol-the money has got to come from somewhere! OR, you end up with a scenario like Baltimore where there isn't enough of everything to go around. And that's the underlying cause of so much of the crime-it is committed for SURVIVAL. And by the way, it was actually Republican policies and legislation that were in many ways (and VASTLY more so than ANY Liberal policies) responsible for the events that caused the loss of those jobs!
