Foxbody DIY Turbo Hot Side Fab Welding Stainless Exhaust / Vibrant Performance 3 piece Slip Joints

Welcome to my 1989 Mustang GT Street Car build. In this video I take you through the process of hand making the hot side tubing for the turbo system that includes the turbo mount, merge collector, wastegate and 3 piece slip joints. We take a close look at back purging the system during the Tig welding process using a Prime Weld 225. Vibrant performance 3 piece slip joints are also explained.

More bends are like having more length so with the sides being close and the side with less bends being slightly longer you have done a good job matching the two sides. The hose clamp idea for marking pipe is great. I have just been using paper wrapped around.

I have 2 Dynamax 2.5 race bullets on my turbo foxbody, and it sounds good and doesn't restrict flow.

Holley Terminator only has 4 input and output that will be quickly used up. Better choice would be Holley Dominator was it has more input and output for data logging as you will tune it on dyno before going to track. So many things happen that data logging becomes invaluable in dial in the car, ask Joe Simpson

Gold ceramic coat the headers and downpipe instead of the wrap because if any oil lands of the header wrap it will catch on fire when the headers are glowing red.

Tony - When i installed a UPR K Member , Everyone told me to just remove sway bar. i was really reluctant , but they were correct it wasn’t needed anymore. maybe you can try removing yours. Good luck

Nice job, I use vibrant mufflers and borla xs pro. I have to tell you though your going to regret running a small down pipe. It’s going to be the first thing that limits hp.

Right on.. yeah that was a consideration, well see how it does on the dyno. Right now shes running good.. its gonna be a major challenge trying to get a 3.5 or 4in pipe to get between the header and firewall situation.. maybe an oval pipe would work but we'll see what happens! I ended up running a vibrant resonator.. im loving it!!

How much power are you after? You should be able to get to about 450-500 wheel I think.

I was searching turbo foxbody. "Damn, this dude has the same name as that OG stunter". Then... "Oh shit, that is TonyD" LoL This thing is too clean not to route the wastegate into the downpipe. The SP wire routing is tits. Best I've seen. I miss my 90 LX. Had the Holly Systemax kit, Z303 and a 175 shot. A beast of a street car. AC too

Be careful with harbor freight cutting wheels. Had one explode on me. Had all my safety gear on and didnt really get hurt but I dont trust them.

@@TonyDFreestyle96 I was searching for those nice slip joints, I can't find very many videos that talk about where to buy how to use etc... after skipping around I finally found where you welded them in. You should knock out a kick video on just those, or make it about the type of exhaust joints and connectors you like to use or would stay away from.

@@baylymiley yeah the triple slips have been around for a long time.. vibrant and summit have them... they do what you need them to do. They are on the hardcore side of things.. they can leak when they are cold thats normal. As far as kick vids sorry im not farmilliar with that platform.. this is about as far as it goes for me.

Voice to text, it was suppose to be quick not kick. Hell I confused myself going back. I’ve got an ls1 240sx that the vbands don’t line up from scraping the ground, and was looking for something that might be more forgiving. Give me a little more clearance too. Thanks

@@baylymiley take a look at the full exhaust vid where i do a double slip with motorcycle springs over the axles.. this may help your situation and save a ton of money and time..
