Ahhh, the good old fox idle issues 🤣. Salt pepper shakers, mass air, iac, tps, cracked wiring, timing, grounds, relays, other hack job gremlins, fuel regulator, missing spout connector, distributor, ignition solenoid on and on and on lol. Joys of the foxbody 👍

Mine used to do the poop and pop. Never could figure it out. Later put a bigger fuel pump in it and it has never happened again. 23 years later still going strong. Scarlet red and titanium. Gotta love a 2 tone fox

Maybe try a 3G alternator with 4ga wire conversion. The computer will run better with consistent amperage. I think the 2G is over taxed for a EFI car, the 80 amp is a carryover from the carbed years. That poor 2G is trying to run computers and sensors through 30 year old wiring. I know for a fact even the 3G gets less efficient when it heat soaks, that one is even worse.

Have you checked your IAC Valve, its a very common problem on these 5.0s they clog with dirt and produce the same kind of problems you have with the car not idling correctly.

One thing you forgot to mention for the less mechanical viewers is how to relieve fuel pressure before pulling injectors, gas and paint don't mix lol. I trip the inertia switch in the hatch then turn engine over with key for few seconds to get all fuel out. Car looks great now I'm inspired to get on my suspension I've been slacking with all this heat and work 👍

Anytime I've had driveability issues with a Fox Mustang it's always been the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Even had one go bad on 94 Chevy K5 Blazer but the GM ones seem to hold up better overall.

Camber caster plates are great, if your front wheels are on the ground. It also helps to determine, before you build the car, as to what you're going to build the car for. Starting with tires. Too much tire, and not enough engine, and you wasted your money on tires. Too much engine and not enough Tire, well, at least you look cool just burning out. Last time I checked... Drag cars don't need touring suspension. And touring cars, don't need a drag racers engine. All of those components really depend on where the strut towers are at. If your strut Towers aren't where they're supposed to be, all the camber caster plates in the world, are not going to help you dial it in. If you haven't noticed, Mustangs are notorious for rotting out at the strut Tower and frame rail. All four edges of the strut Tower must be solid, for a camber caster plate to help you at all. But then, there are only approximately, 12 more rubber bushings to be replaced, if you want that front suspension tight. But let's take a look at another aspect here. Most of the people at the parts counter, have no idea what a camber caster plate is. It's not going to be listed as that in their computer. It will be a strut bearing plate. And they will have those on the Shelf. Everything else, for a Mustang of that era, is a goddamn geographical Oddity. Everything's 2 weeks away.

Hey man definitely check your little ground wire coming off the battery coming back to the body. I was having the same issues chased it for a long time ended up being that ground was not making a good connection it was an intermittent Miss. Car would run Gray when I first start it up then it would start missing I can shut it off restarted it would run great for a minute and then it would start Miss backfire popping through the intake I don't know it's an easy thing to check and it was a headache to find. I believe it's the computer ground.

Have you tried swapping in a known good distributor? Have had a bad hall effect switch in the distributor cause my car to pop and misfire. Would run fine then out of no where start the popping then go away or if you got into the throttle it would do it. Chased that problem for a while and that's what it was. Swapped a in another distributor and ran like a champ.

@trailerpark187
@trailerpark187 5 жыл бұрын
I've had similar problems with my ignition module. Also it might sound dumb but a bad tack or anything in the coil pick up wiring could cause this problem. The green wire with yellow strip has a junction that goes to the ecm and the coil and to the tack. I've had those go bad too

Those new 19lb injectors are a very good upgrade over stock 4 vs 1 hole, they atomize the fuel much better. I had the same problem before but it was the fuel pressure regulator, the ethanol ate the seals.

Ouch... Are you getting all 4 gears... Sounds like you lost over drive most likely a broken or disconnected tv cable..... This part is not optional.... The trans is dead if this is what happened. ... @@champking20 some times the cable is connected but the plastic brakes.... It will shift into 3rd but will lose 4th(od) you may try to adjust tv cable to add more pressure but if it isnt going into 4th then you likely have a trans rebuild in your future.... Better yet install a junkyard 4r70w with an msd controller and an upgraded torque converter and shift kit for a real performance upgrade.... My condolences on your aod troubles if you are redlining at 80 you can kill your engine i did when i lost od in my aod....(rod knock)
