Replace your PCV valve, grommet and hose when you do this. Mine was leaking air (vacuum leak) and it ran like crap for 4 years. Spent 20 bucks and it’s like a whole new vehicle.

Cockass those water lines go to the coolant rail on the passenger side of the intake. Theres a small connection there that uses to go into the throttle body.

Tony! I have a set of upper and lower GT40 intakes. So i have the Egr equipped intake. But the vacuum lines the same same setup as the non egr intake. Have you seen that? I kinda figured out how to set it up.

Yes they had about 5 different castings for this intake and vacuum lines. The ones shown in this vid are the most common.

Pulled mine from a 98 mountineer. Thought it was pretty peculiar that it had P heads with gt40ish upper and lower. Same vacuum line set up as the non egr but definitely has the holes going through it for egr. It was basically a hybrid of the two kind of weird. Since im doing egr delete, should I just cap off the two coolent lines on the upper manifold or just leave em blank I suppose. They are definitely clogged I am still trying to unclog them.

That happened in the factory when they started making the later GT40P models they used the last of the egr lowers mixed with egr uppers to finish out the lot.

Absolutely you can tap into your cold air but your car is going to run a bit rich from now on tho.

GREAT VID! If I use a non egr Explorer intake can I use the egr spacer plate with it. I'm not running coolant through the ports. I noticed the bottom of the upper intake is notched. Will that cause a vacuum leak if I use the egr spacer?

So, technically I could remove the egr valve? I don't have the air pump anymore and the crossover tube on the back of the heads are blocked off anyway. So I would need a egr eliminator plug and blocking plate for the egr valve. And I should have any other issues, you would think...

The vacuum ports on the upper intake rub on the drivers side valve cover. Is there another trick to get more clearance, Aside from getting a phenolic spacer? Can thes tubes be cut and or tapped with a plug?

Non Egr is usually late 97 - 99 explorers. they're still useable, but require a little rerouting.

I have a Gt-40 original intake I want to swap to on my 90. I ordered a egr delete 70 mm throttle body for it but not sure where the water will go bc mine has the egr hole in the lower intake. Plus I need help finding the correct thread, size and length bolts for my intake. I also have 24 lb mass air and injectors changing too with this intake. Thoughts would be appreciated!

Be sure to have your gaskets, 4 long bolts, 2 short bolts, silicone sealer, vacuum hose and you should be good to go.

So just want to say great videos on the intakes, I do have a question though, so if you have the one with egr and the water lines like the non egr in your video then can you not drill that hole in the lower and just use one of the lines on the upper instead. If you use the non EGR intake gaskets at the heads, and plumb the EGR normally, it will look fine, not throw a light, and there won't be EGR gas getting into the intake. 👍

No difference in running. If you mount the EGR valve remotely and hook it up, wires and vacuum, you'll not get a light, and not get EGR gas into the intake 👍👍

Ported Explorer 65 mm TB. E cam + springs, decent headers. Heads if you can. You'll be borderline for a ECU tune.

The EGR lowers are mostly identical although the cast uppers are smaller runners than the true tubular uppers.

John Mc Donald theyre supposed to reduce cylinder temps chemically, but didnt work well until they started using egr coolers which Foxes dont have. Terrible system in the experimental stages
