I'm in the process of building a gt40 setup 331 built from an explorer motor. Eagle rotating assembly with forged pistons. Anderson N41 cam. I worked the living hell out of the gt40p heads that were on them with bowl work and polishing. That lower is the bottleneck of that intake, I ported and polished mine to match the heads. Should be a good street motor once I'm done with it.

I love any videos about foxbodys so I definitely subscribed to you! I am currently building up an 89 foxbody! I know how badly you want to put the intake manifold on but if I were you I would wait to get some decent heads and do it all at once. even like you said a set of cheap gt40 heads would significantly improve your car over the stocks! good luck :)

By the time you have the e7 heads cleaned and ported and new springs etc you might as well just spend the extra $100 for the gt40p heads since theyll flow better stock than ported e7s

Thanks for the opinions guys! I think I'll wait. The AFR's rock it. Im running a 165cc set on my 69 Torino. Love em. Yes, yes, its tempting to pull the heads off the Torino for this (302) but not going to do that. Spring is coming, along with that swap meets etc...I agree, need to hold out for a good set of heads so this is what I'll do. Knowing me, I might get bored and slap on the intake anyway just to see what it does lol ;) Naaa, I should wait.

Sweet! Thank you. Right now on offer up there is a guy selling a set of E7's "rebuilt" for 100.00. They have springs set up for a larger cam, and no idea if the rockers are stock / studded or not. 100 a good deal for E7's? he has stock E7's for 60.00 but those need to be checked out at a machine shop.

Get her done . If you don't like it then take it off. I'd go straight aluminum . I did it all in the same day . Trick flow heads .. tf timing chain .. tf intake manifold.. comp cam .( Similar to the F cam). That was on my 86 . Noticed it was missing something so I went maf conversion. N man was so lost . Cus it wouldn't turn on . Did the a9l ..24lb injectors .. maf collaborated for the 24lb injectors . Pretty much did what you said to do on the maf conversion . I was mad . . Took it apart started over step by step. N realized I had no damn fuel in my car and I was parked at an angle

Ford racing GT40 are lighter . That’s that advantage. And alway find the upper with out the extra notch that sticks out the top mid right of the intake .

96.5-98 internal 98.5-01 external 96.5 early 97 have real gt40 heads 3bar 97.5-01 have gt40p 4bar I just pulled 4 different full systems at my honey hole (scrap yard) I paid 175$ for all 4 full systems i got super lucky (trottle body all way to heads)... scored 1 gt40 and 3 gt40p all internal egr but one had both egr systems early 98.5 ...... I'm using mountaineer 96.5 gt40 in my 95gt ,, the upper is a original cast mode ...you get a better power gain with a better cam ,,,,I'm gonna do ton on my gt cold air ,intakes heads,cam ,injectors, full exhaust, 302 or 351 rebuild plus computer tune ,,,im doing everything my self because its special to me (first 95gt I even seen when I was 9) been after this very car some time ,71yo man kept her cherry for me 71k all original garage kept 0 rust in Indiana oddly he was 71 and car had 71,009mi he passed away days after I also just finished sand & polishing the upper and that's not very easy job . Also on my rebuild list full suspension, brakes then turning her into a s351 convertible replica

Paul. This video is now 2 years old. Im running a trick flow upper lower and heads now. GT40p heads are great factory ford heads though

If your on budget gt40 or gt40P heads flow way better than E7 heads .But beware if you get the gt40P heads you have to get the gt40P headers because the spark plug angle is different .

+Mustang Greg v8 - this is true except my engine being an 86 has flat tops and the Gt40 heads wont work anyway. Best head for stock 86 are TFS. This is why i ended up going a diff route with engine.

IMO Injection, can fine tune the variables. But carb for simplicity if you lack any EFI works good too.

Nice!I also run an early Explorer intake with EGR,picked up a set 3-Bar,GT-40 heads with spring up grade. Nice up grade over stock set up.For the money it's the way to go in my opinion ! Not a race car ,but has nice street manners.

Nice! Yeah Im pretty sold on looking for some GT40's unless I come across a set of ported E7's. But man, for the price of GT40's I can almost pick up an entire explorer engine, which is temping just for spare parts.

+John Fasanelli - with these 86 stock heads, not much. Maybe 10-15. But with good heads its a pretty impressive intake, and can be ported for ever more flow.
