Seeing this video makes me want to get started on my 86 even more. I moved to SC from Indiana a few years ago and it's been sitting at my parents house over 600 miles away. They're bringing it down next month for me to continue restoring it. She's a northern Indiana car so she has a stupid amount of body rust. Luckily my frame is fine for some reason.

Mine have faded a bit, turned a little "gold" like the finish is coming off, but otherwise no complaints. Chrome I think would be a better finish anyway.

I've got the same latches (in hand) for my Crown Vic (Power Bulge Fiberglass Hood). They're the least intrusive and affordable of the bunch, but I'm still worried about any goons that get a hold of my car (random shops etc) and what they'll do to them when their meat hooks are slamming the hood like a stock hood .. Whoop on the Torino, I've got a "67 Comet, "68 Commuter, "73 F250 Camper Special, and my "05 Crown Vic LX (Manual swapped). Keep on tinkerin' and filmin' we appreciate it out here ..

Oh man! What a collection, 67 Comet???? God those are so cool, and so hard to find. All very cool cars sir. And the 73 F series is one of the best looking ford trucks ever IMO. Not to mention a t5 swapped crown vic??? cool as hell sir! love it.

turned out nice. More importantly, great video. only thing i would mention is by eliminating the bump stops you cant adjust how the hood sits in relation to the fenders as far as the height. My recommendation is count how many turns it tkes to turn the bump stops down so there is zero contact when the hood closes. If the hood still sits to your liking, then proceed with the hood pin install. if your hood sits low or not to your liking, raise or unscrew the bump stops to where they were. Sorry, not trying to be one of those a$$holes just picking everything apart. Like i said great video. #4EyesForLife
@HOUSEOFDULA4 жыл бұрын
No man perfect point. Your right if cant the hood low enough with the stock stops then the pins wont likely be low enough, that would have to be pretty though, or, something wrong with the front fender alignment. Since these take place of the bump stops themselves and lock in the pin, these essentially become the bumpstops. They are spring loaded so you want the pin in the lock with tension on the spring. Its locked in place but depending on pin height you can raise and lower the hood corners. Except for some reason like you said you couldnt get low enough...Stuff like this I wish I time to explain! but my vids are long enough already lol Appreciate the comment man!

Thanks for the fox vids! So it’s been a while and I’m curious how this latch is holding up, does it still click in solid, ever cleaned or greased it? Oh how’s your fiberglass holding up, any noticeable stress cracks and whatnot? My poor coupe now bears the cowl carnage, but luckily not beyond there, and I’m deciding on the least ugly setup. Quicklatch or Aerocatch basically. Love your account, thanks again 🤘
@HOUSEOFDULA3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I'll be doing a lengthy follow up vid soon on my 86's and all its bolt ons. They are okay...no cracking or anything. I do have one that likes to stick though.
@BobSmith-mc7uq4 жыл бұрын
Looks ok, losing your hood height adjustments (bump stops), not a good thing. Now you have 2 more stress points on the front of the hood as before you had the hood latch pulling the hood down against the adjusters. Hopefully no cracks arise & ruin the paint job.

I would say he has two more layers of security from that hood flying up!💯

Will i be fine with no latch?
@HOUSEOFDULA3 ай бұрын
Fiberglass hood with no latch, and pins / locks should be fine. Just need to adjust well to avoid rattling. If its a fiberglass hood that allows for a stock latch though I'd use it to get that extra point latched in the center though.

Just a thought..what about shooting some expanding foam into the open areas of each hole to firm it up. It's a little messy but afterwards it can be shaped, lightly sanded and painted once it hardens up. Let me know what you think.
@HOUSEOFDULA4 жыл бұрын
Yeah why not! not a bad idea. If I was handy with fiberglass I would just fill with cylinder shape and paint, or like you said fill. Someone had an idea to use a rubber grommet, with a star cuts in it.

Do you have to keep your original hood latch?
@HOUSEOFDULA3 жыл бұрын
Nope. Some choose to remove it as these now lock it in place, I thought it was extra insurance and liked having extra support in the center of the hood WITH the sides.
@LSFoxbody4 жыл бұрын
Add some rubber grommets on the underside and cut some cross hairs to allow the latch to go through. Just a thought
