In fact, a first generation migrant SHOULD love his/her birth place, and SHOULD NOT totally forget about it. If he/she can betray it, one can suspect that the same betrayal he/she can do to his/her adopted country. // Its towards second generation migrants that one should show more grace.

I thought many times that I and my wife were the only ones who thought like that. It is too logical and natural to confine lawmaking and national decisions to people who have at least 15 years of cultural, emotional, legal and psychological experience in this country before being able to hold an office or position. It is tough enough for a Texan to all of a sudden move to Ohio or Vermont to effectively govern. Texans have quite a different pallet of life, circumstances and opinions compared to citizens who grew up on the Range in Minnesota or the devastating cold of Lake Shore in Chicago. It is quite infantile to expect a captive lion in a zoo to act like a free-to-roam, African lion.
