True... but as we inch closer to one, the other tech accelerates in development time, and vice versa. IMHO, the two technologies will complimentaraly accelerate each other, almost exponentially... until the "singularity" occurs - which, by the time we realize it, will be too late at that point. Cryptography is secure because it's based on irreversible hash algorithms. Cryptographic algorithms are irreversible because they use non-mathematical operations, like truncations and concatenations. Quantum or not, computers have to be programmed before they can do anything, and there is no code for reversing cryptographic hashes. Brute force is not an issue either, just add more digits to the hash.

FUD, in order to extract a private key from a public key the public key needs to be visible. On wallets prior to 2012 the public key is visible. On wallets after 2012 the public key is not visible. Also, we don’t have anything to worry about with old wallets (2012 and prior) for another 10 years. By then there will be newer wallets that quantum computers can’t crack.
