What I always find fascinating is how in the world did someone figure out where to mine in the first place???? With no technology to use, no cars, power tools, ect.... How???!!!

Surface gold, lying in creek beds and on cliff sides attracted the initial prospectors (so educated guesses or just luck in many cases.) but they knew that surface gold usually indicates a much larger subterranean deposit. In many ways it’s still the same process today.

At the 6:30 mark, I am surprised that they don't get either fire hose or pipe and PUMP the water out of the mine tunnel. They let that set too long, they will have problems with saturation and structural collapse.

This show is all over the place & not in order. This is just clips of the show & they do pipe it out. They know what their doing & trying to be safe. I know Rick personally & went to see him last June. Dad & Rick are old collage roommates. Dad hung out with the Dale Bros there in Bear Gulch.

@@smileysun9212 They definitely don't know what they are doing. They blew their entire budget on wood, when there was plenty of wood at the site, and they have no mining equipment, not one piece. They don't know the names of basic equipment, and don't wear basic 4-gas air monitors when they go in. This is really basic stuff, and anyone who's ever worked in mining would know this. I think they're actors, and you're a Fox Business intern pretending to be an old family friend. This show is comedy gold for sure.

I see where your coming from & this show could be better. There’s things I don’t like but If it wasn’t for Dad for being Ricks roommate at the collage of the mines I wouldn’t be watching this show. Yes some things they are acting because they want the shot just right & sometimes they do things without the camera crew that they have to redo. The camera crew is also working on Mountain Men. This is basically a hobby mine & want to find out if Oly’s story is true. They get royalties from the show & it’s helping to pay for stuff. They should just quit & I hate how this show is being dragged out being all over the place. They don’t show everything they do & started filming in 2019. The narrator is a joke & doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He said they got a I beam which they didn’t. They got a C channel because they didn’t find a I beam they wanted. The camera crew are making them look dumb & they did get rid of one camera man. They are mining engineers & have about 50yrs experience but have no experience in being in front of a camera. The episode before the newest one Rick has chains already on his truck & the newest episode shows him putting them on. Is Rick a gardener or a miner? He always has a rake in his hand & it’s his walking stick. He would be better off being a gardener because of the shape he is in but he doesn’t know when to quit & has both knees rebuilt twice. They don’t tell ya that Tad has a big cabin there in Bear Gulch that’s twice as big as my home & their staying in tents. I told Dad to tell Rick that. It is deceiving on how they present this show & it is difficult for them to have the cameras around because they have to babysit the camera crew & have to watch out for everyone’s safety.

I know that it should be immediately understood that these are simply clips of what should take an incredibly longer amount of time and resources. At the time of this video, it does appear that they were in the process of shutting down the mine for the winter, which sort of threw the storyline sideways when they started up a new task that is time and resource intensive to do with all the givens.
