Depends on the combo. An explorer top end with a letter cam might be 280 whp on it's best day (unported of course) but if you got a qualify top end like 11r heads, a custom ground cam and a badass intake you could see much higher on a stock bottom end stock 302 cubes...you could see upwards of 350 whp or even more depending how far you spin it. What's this cars setup? I have a 90LX that I need to get back road worthy, and I like how this car is set up. I am thinking of a trick flow top end kit on a rebuilt block. Not sure what to put in the bottom end though. I like the suspension and wheel stance a lot too.

@rhull39394 жыл бұрын
Doesn't really matter if you're looking for more power. You need a few pounds of boost on those to make decent numbers. Don't go above around 400 at the wheels though.
@pimpovic24 жыл бұрын
Spark plugs do matter. So does proper gap size.
@rhull39394 жыл бұрын
@@pimpovic2 not much in the way of power as long as the car isn't misfiring. A couple horsepower.
@pimpovic24 жыл бұрын
@@rhull3939 I'm not thinking of it in terms of gaining HP. It's about letting the engine work the way it should, in order to capitalize on timing and using what's on the table. Remember an engine is a big pump that takes 3 things to make it work. Air, fuel, and spark. It's important to get it right.
@rhull39394 жыл бұрын
@@pimpovic2 yes sir, but what I'm saying is you shouldn't look to spark plugs for any sort of performance gain because you won't get one.

What ECU is he tuning? Holley, Megasquirt?
@boss302nard4 жыл бұрын
Just my .02 but I would verify that timing with MS. I changed a cap and rotor and it threw mine WAY off. That caused a lot of popping and missing for me until I got it figured out. It was off by almost 10*! It looks like the car is a little leaner now, I hoped that helped. On my combo (gt40x heads, e-303 and RPM2) I’m running about 13.5 AFR with good success but haven’t verified at a dyno yet. I hope you get the n/a setup dialed in before the snail comes in the mail! 😏

My 86 ran awesome with ported GT 40 intake, unequal shorties, and 70mm TB with SD. Once I swapped the heads, it ran like crap until I switched to mass air. Now runs awesome, still with Stock cam. Afr heads+ flat top pistons = 291/337 on dyno jet
