Can’t feel anything but happiness for the WI team after growing up watching documentaries about the feared rivalry with the Windies of old in the 1980s to 2000s. I was born in 1997, the last time Windies won a test match on this continent. I grew up hearing about how legendary the West Indies had been in their previous era but had never witnessed anything like that in all the time I've watched them playing the game. After decades of watching them struggle, it feels so surreal and honestly pretty incredible to see them finally defeat Australia in a Test match, let alone at the Gabba. Seeing Brian Lara well up with emotion was also such a touching sight, it must have been so hard for the all legends to watch their team sink more and more into the mire so I'm honestly happy to see the West Indies win for a change

I’m Australian, and I love this result! I grew up watching an almost unstoppable West Indies side in the 80s and always loved watching them play. It’s great they’ve broken this drought! Brian is completely correct too, there should always be a third test. Pakistan had their chances earlier in the summer too, but made too many mistakes. I’m sure they’re learning from that too as the West Indies will be learning from this win.

I apologise for writing off the WI on day 3. Joseph was phenomenal, the next Ambrose I hope. Could of gone in Australia's favour if Smith got a century and got them over the line but wasn't meant to be. Cricket is the real winner. Lara's 153* vs Australia is my number one batting performance of all time and I rank this along joint best bowling performance against Australia in recent times. The other one being Steyn in the 2nd Test 2012-13 (5/73 & 6/31).

Great win by Windies. Many of us here in Australia were very happy with such a great display, with so many fond memories of the great Windies teams of the past. How good was it back in the day when all the Windies legends used to tour and they were amazing on the field and off. I would love the all the major nations to rediscover their best. I want strong Pakistan test teams and amazing Sri Lankan ODI teams. I want South Africa to rediscover that resolve that made them a staunch threat whenever you faced them. I would love every ashes decided in the 5th test on the 5th day. Winning is great but excitement is the extreme. If every now and then an S Joseph wants to stand up and show us what for.
