I have since moved on to building my own soil but I started growing with happy frog. It is a great base for building your soils to meet whatever custom requirements particular varieties have.

@untiltheaxefalls72654 жыл бұрын
@@anaserales5555 very similar mix that i do, i use a 50/50 mix of happy frog and ocean harvest for veg, when i transfer pots and get ready to flip to flower i use about 75% strawberry fields and 25% ocean harvest with an extra 2 cups of straight worm castings and a half cup of Epsom salt to the mix, it works wonderful for photo period plants, idk about auto's, i don't have much experience with auto's, i have been growing for going on 7 years and i think i have only grown 2 auto plants, i just prefer to have more control and more time to train my plants, i don't want to be a week into high stress training and have her flip to flower out of nowhere and my plant enters flower super stressed out!

So for an Autoflower in ocean forest you don’t need ANY additional supplements? Just ph the water? “My friend” has a couple flowers in 3 gal pots (air pots from Vivosun), fox farms ocean forest soil, and ph the water at about 6.0. That’s all “he” needs to do?
@vinstinct4 жыл бұрын

vinstinct what kind of nutrients might “he” need to add
@vinstinct4 жыл бұрын
Probably not the best person to answer, but you might have enough for vegetation state. Might want to get some bloom and micro nutrients. If you want to stay with fox farm, they have big bloom (micro), grow big (veg) and tiger bloom (flower). They are pretty pricey. You may want to search for an organic one.

pH 6.3 - 6.8! 6.5 is ideal. But I have had shit for luck with this crappy ass soil. I have put several clones in this soil and from different batches of soil at different times and every f@ckin time my plants suffer from deficiencies especially nitrogen. I have to add soil microbes and a fertilizer to get them back on track after I transplant them into fresh f.f.o.f soil. 🖕 Fox Farm shitty soil. I won't buy this shit ever again. There's soil farmers around and I will go to the farmers and buy from them from now on. I've wasted time and money f@ckin around with this trendy ass company. If this soil does have what it says it has in it I don't see it. People say it's a "Hot" soil. I say it's a "NOT" soil!

mixing OF n HF with perlite is awesome sometimes I'll add a lol dolomite lime for ph buffer
@timpage50215 жыл бұрын
It is awesome. But dolomite isn't really needed as ph buffer for ffof. It'll help with calcium tho. Nothing wrong with adding it. I add bone meal as the calcium is really easy to uptake for the cannibis.

Which is better?
@timpage50215 жыл бұрын
@@Kyle987x they are both good. I use a 50% ffof 30 percent happy frog 20% coco coir and add more perlite. Thd coco coir and perlite helps to lighten it up for better drainage. I been growing 22 years and used just about everything and have had tremendous results with ease of use with this mix. I dont add any extra fertilizer until I'm about a week before flower. Then I use the fox farms big bloom and tiger bloom in 1/4 strength of suggested amount. And in mid flower I start with fox farm beastie bloom for a few week then I switch to fox farm cha ching with grandma's unsulfured molasses for the last few weeks. Flush the last week to 10 days befige harvest. I grow photoperiod cannibis tho. I dont fuck with autos.

Just tried Happy Frog myself and it worked great until I was about to throw plant in flower when the soil PH dropped to 4 and it resulted in a serious magnesium deficiency that I am currently trying to fix.
@timpage50215 жыл бұрын
@@Krazykal yea you gotta add cal-mag and even 1/4 strength nutrients to start with after about 4 weeks in veg. And much much more Phosphorus and potassium in flower. I use a combo of happy frog and ocean forest with added perlite once I am past seedling stage and in proper veg. Additionally I do add a some coco coir to lighten up all the peat. My flowering formulary is tiger bloom early flowering. Beastie bloom in mid to late flower and cha ching with grandma's unsulfured molasses late flowering to a week before harvesting. I water to get about 20% of the volume I an useing to waste 1 time a week to help rinse out built up salts and so I dont have to flush multiple times causing undo stress. Do you got a decent ph pen and 1 to test the soil as well and ppm meter?

Remember folks this was 7 yrs ago when Ocean Forrest was the shit and now idk what they've done to it but if you dont dilute it, it'll burn the hell out of your plants just by itself. I like to add some HF or others that aren't loaded with a bunch of stuff, preferably something loaded with a lot of microbial life. I also really like to add peat moss, vermiculite, and a little perlite for better drainage and more of an airy type soil. Ratios vary obviously depending on amount and what soils your using and dont see myself ever buying anymore OF in the future. I'll go with Roots 707 before I use that "Hot" garbage again.
@casterakabadman8053 жыл бұрын
Good advice, i fear vermiculite and other water retention additives tho haha i just threw some seedlings out due to being in some sungro black gold seedling mix that had Yucca extract, vermiculite and even silica or something in it and it stayed wet for 10 days after initially planting, definitely going to mix some happy frog and OF with 30% perlite next time. Fox-farm and happy-frog they make it sound like they're not complete. It's almost like they're saying you got to buy Fox Farms and Happy Frog and mixing together to have a full complete balanced. And one more thing I don't like is I'm saying that you do not add nothing to it until 30 days or whatever it may have been. The whole point is to add in what ain't in the soil to make the perfect soil. I think they need to rethink their strategies and their amendments and and make it full body and complete balanced. Sounds like a marketing Ponzi almost.
