there are many father son deals but the the daicos brothers are special, they are both highly skilled, the only comparison in can think of would be geelongs ablet brothers, although one brother bowed out while the other gary was a star !!!

When Nick goes out to play, he makes a worthwhile contribution to the team effort. When Buckley played (Collingwood always played better when he didn't, by the way), all he did was run around and look flash. Even some of the most ardent Collingwood supporters imaginable thought Buckley was overrated. Personally, I wouldn't give Buckley a game at schoolboy level. He was bloody useless! He couldn't go in and get the "hard" ball, he couldn't mark, and his kicking, supposedly his strong point, was ordinary, especially when taking set shots for goal. In short, he was a pretender, but he had a lot of Pies' faithful conned. I still remember my father commenting to me about Buckley, thus: He's not fair dinkum, that b.....d! I agree, 100%. Buckley was as weak as cats' piss.

I'm a Yank who is also a long time Collingwood member (complete with a decades-long Made by Many card and lanyard collection), and feel comfortable stating that you are becoming the AFL's version of what John Madden meant to America's NFL. I'll never forget the cowardly shoulder hit from behind by Papley. The way the Swan's players were to gutless to tackle Nick on their own, preferring the gang attacks. I remember seeing Nick's all man play his first senior game for the Pies, what a star he was. I bet he is so proud of his two boys following in that star quality, ability. GoPies.

I am a hawk but your comment stands out it's only the beginning of seeing this kids talent! Could be the best ever! I no a quality footballer when I see one but this kids foot skills are like ive never seen being a 18 year old! Darren jarman is the best ball user I've seen and sam Mitchell and Nick could be even better! And the Ability to hit the right target from maybe 6 options every single time is what's the most freakish! I’m super confident of our future and then our ability to attack the trade and drafts as we have some great people in many areas at the club. We’ll definitely be contending for a while. Just gotta keep all those at the club which I hope is a long time.

@@UltimateGreatness you can't no about vfl talent till they play with the big boys! As a hawk we got Denver barras pick 7! A gun in vfl but can't find form in firsts! Hawk's seconds are full of talent 2nd on ladder I think but you just don't no till the play firsts! And it's easy to say oh we will get guns with trades but it's hard to get them without top 10 picks your on top of ladder so you don't have any buying power to get top talent in trades! All you have is free agency and that's IF the player wants to come! All your future is not a given it's IF!! Pendles is a BIG part of your system! Last year you played him at half back for start of season I remember clearly and you did not win a game till he went back to midfield! As a hawk I no very well you loose 2 of your very best and it takes a decade to find that talent again! Hodge Mitchel! Once they left it all fell apart! And that's just 2 of our 3peat players only 1 remains bruest! I'm not saying you won't be contending for a while but it is an IF that you do! Nothing comes easy in elite sport it's the opposite! St kilda have 1 cup! ONE! you need TIME LUCK BUT MOSTLY CHAMPIONS and they are rare breed! You do have older players that don't get replaced with the next kid out of the seconds! And as I said you have zero buying power to trade champions in clubs want top 10 picks even 2 if there a champion! See hawk's are smart we have won 13 cups since 1960 and we do rebuilds not hanging around the 8 and win a cup every 20 years if lucky! We bottom out draft in top talent our midfield has 2 top 10 picks pick 13 pick 17 all under 21 and beating most midfield! Just need some key tall we have pick 3 this year and will McCabe a gun key defender son of a hawk he is going to be top 10 to 15 this year so all we need is a top trade the following year and wee are set to rise again! Next year we will have another top 5 pick to use to get a gun trade and year after that look out! If I was a pie as soon as your aged guns retire next few years drop down/ tank and hit draft for a few years then have a serious team that can win multiple cups! But hey that's just my opinion! Works for hawk's!! And it is an IF for us to!! Go pies all the best to you! Glenn

We’ve got fantastic people at our club doing fantastic things. They’ll make the right calls as they’ve earned my trust in that. Half the squad are from Buckley's era ..pretty harsh saying he failed ..couple of dodgy umpiring decisions in a couple of prelims and the grandfinal..who knows how we would remember his time

To say he is a failure is a ridiculous statement. Buckley harvested many of the talents we see at collingwood today. Perhaps his time at the pies became a bit stale and both he and the club needed a fresh path. But to say he failed is a truly terrible take.

he did better then 14-15 other coaches from his time...... he did everything to win us a flag, our team did the letting down. People are so quick to put the coach on the back burner when he did a lot for collingwood. Eat, shat and breathed collingwood for 25 years. His done more with his life then you ever will.
