Fages actually got 2 medals, the Jock McHale which goes to every premiership coach, and also one that the players got. He kept the Jock and gave O the other one in a team meeting the Thursday after the GF. Story hasn't gained much traction unfortunately but you can google it and find out

crazy that Bevo, Simpson, and Fagan were all assistant coaches at hawthorn during their dynasty and have all gone on to win premierships as senior coaches at other clubs
@spiro190Ай бұрын
Fages was more than an assistant; he was head of coaching and development between 2008 and mid-2013, while he was also the general manager of football alongside senior coach Alastair Clarkson between mid-2013 and the end of 2016. I could almost argue he was Clarkos's boss. 😁

Credit for using the word supporters when so many tossers happily parrot the yank word "fans" in the modern day
@SilentHotdog28Ай бұрын
They had no reason to be arrogant. They weren't dominant towards the end of the year when it was important. Sure for most of the season they were amazing, but they started losing and struggling against teams that had no right to win. Freo in Sydney was the main one, but Port Adelaide pumping them by 112 was disgraceful. Bulldogs beating them by 39 at the S.C.G. disgraceful, St.Kilda beating them......disgraceful and they wanted to be arrogant? At least Pies last year got the job done, even though we fell off towards the end of the year and struggled in the finals, at least we won, so it all worked out, Swans were woeful for a 1st placed side.
@gooseattack22 күн бұрын
@SilentHotdog28 Sydney is a non-Victorian side, so this type of performance wobble is baked in. Their upper bound is 17 wins. To increase that, they would need to travel less. We see Victorian sides put up 18 or more minor round wins often, because their fixturing is easier. Neutral games statistically behave similarly to home matches, so in a year where a Victorian side is good, they win more and wobble less than an equivalent non-Vic club. It's not fair to judge Sydney in this sense. If they given say Collingwood's travel itinerary, they would have had a much more consistent season, and likely a more successful finish.

Another thing about the (2024 Twenty-Twenty Four) AFL Grand Final with both Sydney Swans & Brisbane Lions as both city rivals which reminds me both very same city rivals between Sydney & Brisbane are from our (2000) NRL Grand Final which was (24) years ago which was between Sydney Roosters & Brisbane Broncos in Sydney and the result that our Queenslander Team of Brisbane (Brissie) Broncos who had won against the New South Walsh Team of Sydney Roosters (Chooks) and the final score/s were Brisbane Broncos (14) - Sydney Roosters (6) and Darryn Lockyer the (Brisbane Broncos) Fullback who got the Clive Churchill Medal Award of course.

How bloody very good and feeling very proud to be a Queenslander (Banana Bender) myself for our Brisbane (Brissie) Lions to win the (2024 Twenty-Twenty Four) AFL Grand Final in Melbourne against the rivals of the New South Walsh Team of Sydney Swans (Swannies) but however we as Queenslanders (Banana Benders) may have already lost our (2024 Twenty-Twenty Four) NRL SOO State of Origin series against our rivals the New South Walsh Team but this &/or that our AFL Grand Final is a pay back to both Sydney & New South Wales from &/or by us Brisbane & Queensland for our NRL State of Origin series loss earlier this year as very sweet revenge and yesterday's AFL Grand Final had (NO) Victorian, South Australian & Western Australian Teams at all which is Very Unfortunately & Very Sadly but just only both Queenslander & New South Walsh Teams both of Brisbane & Sydney instead which is Very Good of course. Next weekends of the Sunday's (2024 Twenty-Twenty Four) NRL Grand Final is this &/or that there are (NO) Queenslander Teams at all which is Very Unfortunately & Very Sadly but just only both Victorian & New South Walsh Teams instead in Sydney which are both Melbourne Storm & Penrith Panthers which is Very Good of course. Yesterday's (2024 Twenty-Twenty Four) AFL Grand Final which does looks like the very good times of our VFL days of both of the Former/Ex Melbourne based teams both of Fitzroy Lions VFL Team (Brisbane Lions) & SM South Melbourne Swans &/or Bloods VFL Team (Sydney Swans) but however before in History is this &/or that the AFTER Fitzroy Lions but BEFORE the Brisbane Lions it was &/or were called the Brisbane Bears either VFL &/or AFL Team some many donkey's years ago in the past of either the (80s &/or 90s) of course.
