This was all said when the hunting ban was being debated but did anyone take any notice no they didn’t . I was a terrier man for years and we never hunted in the breeding season it was called fox control not fox annihilation .

It’s just greedy trigger happy wankers persecuting the poor old fox nowadays it’s massively wrong ! There’s no skill ,no field craft and definitely no sport ! Just disgraceful behaviour!

As someone that used to hunt with hounds and now controls deer and foxes with a rifle, I don’t buy that the fox hunting ban has reduced numbers, it’s the progression of thermal and night vision equipment, people are now trying to get the biggest bag of foxes with thermal scopes etc, there is no selection process with most people it’s simply shoot on sight

And this is what I’ve been saying for years this rifle shooting is way out of hand and totally unsustainable! It’s unsustainable very little skill , way too effective just persecution ! Total disgrace! At the very least foxes should have seasons ! You should have respect for any animal you hunt and if nothing else leave them alone to rear their cubs.

The fox population is thriving in some areas and not in others. Fox lamping and shooting with thermal / NV scopes as a sport, as shown on FSC, is possibly a big reason fox numbers are down locally in some areas. Bringing back fox hunting wont help overall fox numbers. Using the pretext of trying to get fox hunting back to protect foxes, in lieu of shooting them will just lead to more control methods being banned. Which would be as farcical as it is predictable. I wish we could do something about badger numbers, too.

Not in Cornwall we have just had multiple dumps of urban foxes across the county courtesy of the RSPCA. This should be outlawed .

Only the police alone are guilty of the tragedy that happened in Plymouth, Davidson was a complete Dimlow and should never even been in possession of a shotgun, let alone giving it back to him , even on CCTV beating up kids in a park , not the 1st case of police failings in this department is it .shameful

Yep. I fear we, once again, have to pay for the cops mistakes. Worse police for years, currently. The issue is putting Poole into jobs because of ‘isms’ and not because they can do the job. It’s everywhere.

Yes, you only have to look at Tony Hamilton and the Dunblane shooting to see how incompetent the police can be, he was a man known to police for an unhealthy interest in young boys and had been refused membership of several gun clubs, the firearms officers on the ground wanted to revoke his license but the assistant chief officer of the force overruled them., re resigned from the force before the inquiry started, rumor is that Hamilton and the assistant officer were known to each other... who knows in what respect....

If you think fox numbers have increased in the last 5 years you’re deluded ! They are pretty much extinct come winter time. Just watch KZbin how can numbers go up when they’re getting shot 24/7/365 ? They’re getting shot when they’re in cub they’re shooting lactating vixens and leaving cubs to starve! There’s never in my lifetime been so few foxes in the countryside. There’s way more foxes in towns nowadays but how sad is that ? Rifle shooting is just greed and persecution. Way too easy very little skill no sport just a total joke ! And who does these counts anyway? Totally impossible!
