You don't understand the Canadian system. He didn't fully resign as Prime Minister, he resigned as the leader of the Liberal Party. Whomever is leader of the party in power is the Prime Minister, he is until they pick a replacement. He then suspended Parliament for 2 months. That is not enough time for the Liberals to select a new leader, so when Parliament returns in 2 months, the opposition parties will vote non-confidence in the government which will them force an immediate election, which leaves Trudeau still the leader of the Liberal Party and another shot at becoming Prime Minister in a new election. Very few were actually frozen. And foreign money being used to influence politics is illegal in Canada - but there was plenty of foreign money flowing to the Karen Konvoy anyway. If so many of the protesters hadn't been breaking that law, no one's accounts would have been frozen. Most were unfrozen rather quickly, as the banks had exceeded what had been asked of them.

The timing has zero to do with US politics. Except maybe he hung on longer than he should have because he thinks (probably correctly) that Poilievre will sell us out to Trump. This is purely internal party politics. Roughly akin to the struggle MAGA Mike had to stay on as Speaker. It has been brewing for well over a year, with members of his caucus publicly starting to call for his resignation months ago, and came to a head when his right hand person for years resigned from cabinet and tore a strip off him over a dispute on fiscal policy that led to him deciding to demote her. With the party tanking in the polls and Freeland being just the latest cabinet minister of many to step down, the remaining caucus member still professing loyalty had enough, and forced him out.

As a Canadian, I am unbelievably upset at the way things are playing out here. We, the Canadian people, have a right to vote Trudeau out of office. By proroguing Parliament until after a new leader is chosen, has stolen that right from us. He'll go out with a whimper, as he deserves, but without our boot print on his a$$ as we deserve. I think that he will leave Canada before the polls close in Vancouver and he will take a boatload of our money with him.
