As I have said before... You can't even breathe around that subject without being accused of being anti-Semitic, but meanwhile when it's black issues everything is up for debate. And if it's to do with race why is it referred antisemitism, rather than racism? Last time I checked Semitic region covered an area of multiple ethnicities. So to me it's a discrimination against an ethnicity, not a race.

In regards to the topic of "school foods to make for Black History Month", if it was left up to me I would highlight a black chef each day/week and make their top or favorite dish and serve it to the students (of course within budget). I would make a poster board or some kind of print out to share with the students about that person and the meal. It would be a fabulous celebration of black excellence!!!

We are talking about a school. An institution that is supposed to educate people. If they were serious about celebrating Black History, why not start in the classroom by teaching the facts omitted from most history books about black people? If their celebration started and ended in the cafeteria, they were never serious about celebrating us anyway.

....."Man's inhumanity to man'......Why are people leaving that part of Whoopie's comment out? We listened to the previous member of the panel say MANY disrespectful and uneducated comments about other races and she was never suspended and never apologized for her harshness or her personal "View". It's the double standard for me. Whoopie supported the book Maus being permitted in the schools as well as other books that teach our children the history of what every race experienced, so we can raise more empathetic and knowledgeable human beings. I think the underlying issue is that some people have freedom to speak their opinion and some folks are still held to a different standard. Whoopie I love you and understood your point.

They are fighting right now to keep slavery from being taught in the public schools. The network president Kim Godwin is black, the memo was from her. It's interesting that this would happen during black history month. Think about the timing and the black woman who suspended her. It was the perfect time to teach on the Holocaust.

There's only three races. We also have different ethnicities derived from those three races. You're in either one, both or all depending on your DNA. Who skipped biology 101? I'd say many people. Religion is also not a race. Dear Lawd the educational system has failed more people than I thought. My goodness! Let's not forget our own history and how slavery was successfully financed. 😶
@SarahIdinaPhreakx3

@@ohreally1 thank you. This is what I have said. Ethnicity is a subset of race. Much like in the Asian race there are subsets, different ethnicities. The same thing can be said for countries in Africa. But the problem (I think) is that people conflate race and ethnicity. To me, Jew can be both an ethnicity (subset of race) and religion. I think of Arab as an ethnicity as well. Both come from the Semitic region.

The school should have played “High on the Hog” on Netflix to teach the students about the history behind Southern dishes and their African origins… Whoopi was wrong for her comment. History is history and opinions are opinions. It was well documented that the Holocaust was based on race, ethnicity and Hitler’s ideals on eugenics. I think commentators must learn the thin line between giving their opinion and sticking to the facts of an event. She said “the Holocaust wasn’t about race, it’s about man’s inhumanity to man”. I know if a white person said, “Jim Crow Laws weren’t about oppression and race, they were about men treating other men unfairly”, I would be irritated because it’s sounds like a bad attempt to rewrite history to soften the harmful effects of racism… Let it go, Lamar…

The whole point of the view is a diverse group of women sharing their “opinions”, not a news show. Let’s not turn this into something it isn’t….. Clearly antisemitism isn’t Whoopi Goldberg problem.

Just an FYI Charlemagne on the Breakfast club did a Donkey of the Day about the Fried chicken story and it actually does have history within our community. Back in slavery times chicken was the pretty much the only meat available for us as it was cheap to keep, feed etc....and also after emancipation it was a way for Black women to earn money making chicken etc.....he even explained the watermelon thing.....it was interesting....

I agree with Q. Isn’t fried chicken a staple in Southern cuisine though…? Even if they did invite an African American chef to cook for a week, I’m sure he would cook fry chicken at some point. Maybe they should’ve done food from different black countries instead or something. I don’t know.

Love the hilarious laughter of Al and Q joking about the Boo Boo! ! As embarrassing as it is to admit,I'm sure it has happened to All of us at one time or another !! Claudia may not want to admit it, but I myself as a woman know that it's true ,especially if you've had a bad case of diarrhea!! Just a couple of weeks ago,my husband confessed to me that it happened to him,and he had to throw his underwear away!! He thought he passed gas,and he boo booed on himself ! Lol It's ok Claudia ,We're all human and it happens to the best of us !! # Laughter is good medicine

I don't think Whoopi should leave. I think everybody needs to calm down including Whoopi. She said something wrong she acknowledged apologized and now there's repercussions. If the worst thing they can do is give Whoopi a 2 week vacation Queen you still won. Relax chill and come back and do your thing. If you wasn't trying to leave prior to incident why all of sudden you wanna leave now. It's personal ego and dramatics. Just chill vacation go see family and friends finish that puzzle and don't answer your phone for two weeks. But don't give no more interviews or further explain yourself or apologize. Whoopi you lost no fans or momentum. Keep doing you QUEEN and relax.

I remember when the youth club I attended tried to honour Jamaican cuisine one day. Chicken, rice and peas. Quite literally. Kids were falling out of the canteen laughing. As I got closer to the counter, I saw the gleaming white rice, spotted with green peas (I. E. petit pois). There is no harm in informing yourself before extending these sorts of gestures, otherwise it is a wasted effort.
