Its unfortunate that all we hear is people spilling out so much negativity about this man, yet they never watched his full podcast to understand where Kevin Samuels was coming from when it comes to black women AND black men. YES, he would go off on men that didnt have themselves all together, too. And as far as his last post on IG, it is a fact that in China they uphold women to a certain standard. If they are 35 and over, they are considered leftovers. They also say the same thing for the men in China. I will say this, my boyfriend and I watched his show on this platform all the time and I can recall him giving a young woman in her early 20s fatherly advice because of the mental state she was in such as her having a couple babies by 2 different men and didnt finish high school and was living on welfare while not knowing the name of the welfare program she was on until Kevin told and explained it to her, He told her that she needs to therapy and finish school and get a part time job before she can go seeking out for a man to take care of her and her kids while on government assistance. She told him that she had parents that didnt give a damn about her which was why she called in to the show asking for HELP. There were other stories similar or almost similar to hers, even the young men with the same story that would call in for advice. His legacy may be tainted because of how people perceived him as this negative type of guy who hates black women, but his last podcast, the night before he passed, speaks for itself with what he has been trying do for the black community. Kevin always recommend therapy. He always recommended self improvement, and advocated for nuclear families. He used a shock therapy to get his point across otherwise who would listen? He was a voice of reason for both men and women. He went to the men first for five years. All I hear is how he made women feel in the last two years and nothing about how he addressed men. To paraphrase Denzel Washington in Remember The Titans, “If you are going to be a mean cuss be a mean cuss to both sides.” Don’t give it to one and coddle the other. That’s what Kevin Samuels did
@worldwidehomeinvestmentsll2 жыл бұрын
The most important part of what you said was he started off talking about black men but spent his last 2 years talking about black women. The last two years is all we have to go off of because as you stated he spent his last two years talking about black women. We did not listen to patronize or know who he was because evidently his commentary on black men never caught airwaves but once he started talking about black women in a disparaging, negative ways was when he gathered most of his fame, goes to show you that we as black women do not entertain people talking about black men therefore he was ignored at that time, it wasn’t until he started talking about us that we did pay attention and start to form an opinion about him, that within itself tells you a lot about black women.
@darrickharris55342 жыл бұрын
@Andrea Bennett I don’t literally mean shock therapy. The approach was shocking but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t care. It would be more considered tough love where he required those he spoke to to take personal accountability. This is a tactic that has been used successfully in both sports and the military. If you want to get technical on whether it was therapeutic or not? It is a mute point because it is different each person. In many system you have to admit there is a problem before you can accept help or treatment. So, often tried to get participants to admit that there is a problem and help is needed. As I previously stated, Kevin always promoted professional therapy. Not just speaking to friends, family, or clergymen. But to get with a trained and licensed professional in addition to speaking to friends, family, or clergy.

His original content was in praise of Black women. His negative commentary of Black women is fairly recent (less than two years) so it isn't surprising he has a large female following.. Malcolm X said "The most disrespected woman on earth is the Black women" so it isn't surprising either that people feel so comfortable being negative toward them because it has always been in fashion to do that including from other women. Some of the biggest purveyors of misogyny are other women.

My issue is with how he said what he said...it was always with hate and arrogance. If I give you advice but I say it in a bitchy way...thats wrong for me to expect you to receive it well. He did have some valid points. You can't be mid 30s/mid 40s with 5/6 children with 5/6 baby daddies asking for a HIGH VALUE MAN. But that doesn't mean the woman is trash. Encourage her to go to school, to upgrade herself and to change her ways to become a high or higher value woman...but he didn't say that.
