Ohtani didn't do well against the Yankees in this world series. But he was great against the Mets (reached base 17 times).Without his his crucial 3-run home run in game 1 of the series against the Padres, or his brilliance in the series against the Mets, and all the crazy things he's done in the regular season, the Dodger's won't be here. Ohtani also brought competitive spirit into his team. Betts and Freeman have underperformed badly in the previous two playoffs, but Ohtani's arrival motivates them too!

In 1967, Hall Of Fame player Orlando Cepeda 🇵🇷 had a monster year, the unanimous NL MVP hit .325, led the league with 111 RBI and had 25 HR. The St Louis Cardinals won the World Series against the Boston Red Sox but Orlando had just 3 hits in 29 at bats with one RBI and he felt unworthy of being there in Stan Musial's restaurant celebrating with his teammates. Then, MVP runner up Tim McCarver raised a glass to him while saying "Here's to you". Cepeda said "Why ? I did nothing in the Series" but McCarver silenced him, answering: "You took us there". The same applies today to Shohei Ohtani, without his incredible regular season the Dodgers wouldn't have reached the October Classic. Here's to you, Shohei 🍾 !!! That was a stunning comeback win, due to the resilience and grit of the Dodgers. After the quick collapse of Jack Flaherty, and with the Yankees up 5-0, I thought the game was a lost cause. The Yankees seemed to be in command and feeling confident, while the Dodgers looked like they didn't have the will. But somehow, the team rose to the challenge. Freddie Freeman earned the MVP award for the series with a rousing performance. As a big Shohei Ohtani fan, I'm disappointed he didn't have a strong WS, but as Mookie said early in the playoffs, Shohei carried the team during the season. So he took them to the playoffs, after which Freddie Freeman (what heart!) and others got the job done.

@@ForeverSweetx3 No, not "only" because of bad defense by the Yankees. That bad defense is a sign of a team that is weak in discipline, but the Dodgers put pressure on teams in many ways, and that can lead to errors or faulty play by the defense. I don’t think most people realize how important Shohei Ohtani is to the Dodgers. People who says that Shohei Ohtani is not needed for the Dodgers to win the World Series against the Yankees has very little if any idea at all of what Ohtani brings to the game of baseball. First there is the financial and ratings aspect but that’s a whole different topic by itself. Shohei Ohtani has a big psychological factor when he’s in the game. He not only uplifts and provides confidence for his team but also instill fear into his opponent. The Yankees has a game plan just to contain Ohtani. Even if he goes 0 for 42 in a seven game series Ohtani is still mighty important. No team will walk a player to let Ohtani bat as we had seen numerous times with Aaron Judge. Game 1 in both the Padres series and this World Series with the Yankees is basically a win or go home game. Without Ohtani’s 3 run home run in game 1 against the Padres, the Dodgers are most likely being swept 3-0 by the Padres and there would be no game 4 and game 5 for the Dodgers pitchers (especially it’s bullpen) to shine. With the latter against the Yankees, Ohtani was the catalyst and the driving force when he hit that triple against the wall to allow Freeman to have a chance to hit that grand slam. Otherwise, the Dodgers would most likely lose game 1 to the Yankees and this World Series would be a very different World Series.
I’m glad that World Series wasn’t all about Shohei. He did well during the season and playoffs. Great to give light to the other great players in the team. It takes a team to win after all. That being said, love Shohei!

As one of Japanese fans, I feel very much grateful for Dodgers’ splendid teammates and fans always cheering him up while he struggles after injury. I wish he could bring more contribution to this organization at the next WS! 😢🎉

Its a shame the injury affected his WS performance but what he did during the regular season and post season is more than enough for the team to carry him to the chip. LETS GO DODGERS! 💙💙

Congrats to Shohei and his Japanese teammate Yamamoto. Hope they got the chance to meet the first Japanese MLB World Series MVP back in 2009 Hideki Matsui who threw the ceremonial pitch before the game

With this he is in. Now his career will determine if he is first ballot, as well as if he is considered the greatest baseball career of all time. Very few people at this point will argue at is his peak if he was the best all time. But a full career is a long journey. Congrats to him. And may we all hope he has a long prosperous career. It is good for baseball.

@TheHollomap ???? He's already First Ballot from his stats with the Angels

@MiChaeng333 Most likely. But always remember there are haters that will try and argue against it. So I just mean to make it definitive. I agree though dude is first ballot in my book.

Ohtani just has that magic...he makes people around him better...Just him up there batting with one arm is enough to get in to pitcher's heads, and take the pressure off of everyone....I started watching The Dodgers 5 years ago, and even though they won, I've never seen the team look so good as they did in this run...Just gritty come from behind, on the road at Yankee stadium kinda wins...
